I’m assuming you mean Klopp and Milner because Gini was not even close to brilliant. In comparison to last week it may seem brilliant but that was pretty stock standard tonight.
So do the opposition.
Well, fully concentrate on the league. Go 100% in each game. Time in the training pitch before each game.
Get fourth, then bounce back next season.
OK guys, good night from me. Take care, stay calm.
I honestly think if we had Jota in for Bobby, and one of those chances that Bobby had went to Jota we would’ve made it a game. RM would’ve been been really uncomfortable playing out the game. I didn’t mind the team selection aside from using Bobby than Jota. We had a lot of half chances, but only Milly’s shot was really threatening. We had the chances to make a game out of it. I don’t think RM is that strong, it’s just we had a big let down in the first leg and had a mountain to climb in the second leg.
As I alluded last game against Villa, Mane and Bobby are holding up the team up front. Tonight it showed again. I’m more worry about Mane then Bobby at the moment. He can’t make a good decision with the ball and he can’t beat anyone with pace. Yes he has played a lot of football, and he’s probably jaded. However, there should be some resemblance of his old self 1 out of 5 game at least. Right now there’s nothing coming from him. Bobby I feel he’s loss a step or two. He doesn’t have the endurance and pace to keep up some times. However, I think Bobby still has the touch and I think he can’t be converted into a midfielders.
Ali played well, made that good 1v1 save, and I’m really impress with Phillips. I think he can stick around and be that 4th CB if we don’t keep Kabak.
This was the last tournament that we could’ve won a trophy, and a team like LFC should always be challenging for trophies. However, this might be a blessing in disguise for the remainder of the season. The boss will have more time to prepare the boys for matches with training, and also more rest time for the boys. I think we can win out the remainder of the season, and if we can do it we’ll be top 4 no question about it.
YNWA
Sad day ,players must pick them selves up, big game against Leeds I’m sure klopp will have them ready, all not lost 4th up for grabs! In my book it’ll be an achievement by Jurgen,3rd place behind the Premier, Champions League.
Mane has been going full Jordon Ibe for months.
Feels like the end of a cycle for this team. Two Champions League finals, two unbelievable league seasons and two major trophies in the bag but we’ve hit that point where we look stale and everyone is out of energy and ideas.
Obviously we’re missing some key players and have been for large chunks of the season but even those we used to be able to turn to for a moment of magic in games like this have dropped off massively this season.
Then you’ve got the supporting cast guys who just don’t seem to be able to come close to making a case for a regular starting place and don’t seem to be able to impact games when they do come on.
Its the first time I’ve thought it might be the right window for one of the front three to move on, generate some funds and inject some new impetus into the team. And we need to address the lack of creativity and goal threat coming from midfield. Between them Gini, Milner, Hendo, Fab, Thiago, Jones, Ox and Keita have 9 assists and 4 goals in the league this season. For context, on his own Foden has 8 assists and 6 goals. That puts a lot on the shoulders of Mane and Salah who have been putting up crazy numbers and Firmino who we know is never going to consistently be that out and out goal threat.
I know our midfield functions differently to others and our creativity comes from our fullbacks and some of our mids have been playing in defence but there was only so long we could rely on Salah and Mane to score the volume of goals they were.
I think Klopp has a big job on his hands this summer and the team is crying out for a refresh. And fuck me do we need stadiums full and rocking again before next season starts up.
Depressingly true.
There are so many with big question marks over their heads, could probably name 10 who may or may not still be here in August.
There are others who just need a fucking good rest.
Can’t bear the thought of Bobby being moved on before we get a chance to say a proper goodbye though, that would be heart-breaking.
Just a shit season basically, we literally haven’t caught a break from day 1. Still feel incredibly proud of these lads though and absolutely refuse to dig any of them out.
Jurgen will do what’s needed in the summer and we’ll go again next season, of that I have no doubt.
Up the fucking mighty Reds!!
Sorry. Just a second here.
Wijnaldum and Robbo?
I must have been watching a different game to everyone else, and I thought they were fucking great. Some of the stuff Gini did on the turn was unreal.
Erm. No, Gini was really very good.
Yeah it feels like we need a Suarez or Torres type to come in and give everyone a lift
A dynamic forward with flair, a terrific work rate and a never-say-die attitude…
Hmmm, I wonder who that might be?
Certainly not!
Its a season of upheaval and struggling to adjust to difficult circumstances.
This season of the global game has been defined, not so much by football and technical quality of teams, but health and fitness.
What a semi-final line-up.
Cunts v Cunts.
Cunts v Cunts.
It says everything that I’d probably want Madrid to win the fucking thing.
Sadly neither of us
I think there is a really good argument for that being the reason why we’ve fallen off so badly, but even if you buy it I dont know that it is a viable strategy to go into next season with the core of this group being allowed to prove it true.
One, it’s just an outrageously ballsy decision that will invite an incredible amount of second guessing that will put a level of pressure on them to avoid a single misstep in a way that is likely really counter productive. Everyone is going to be waiting to lay into Klopp for not responding to the failures of this season by going out and buying 2-3-4 players and that will be destabilizing.
Two, even if it were the legit reason for this season’s drop off, I don’t know that you just use the start of a new season to restart a new and think we’re going to be able to pick back up to where we were 18 months ago. Sometimes once the magic has gone, even for completely legit reasons, it’s gone.
I think the only way we get to a CL QF next season with 5 of those front 6 playing as part of our recognized first choice line up is if we’ve bought good players and those who were already here responded by returning to the form of the 2 seasons previous.
Respectfully I disagree.
Injury isn’t the reason we seem to have gone from unstoppable red tide to a blunt and out of sync team. We were scoring goals earlier in the season even after the injuries started to pile up. But since our form dipped, we haven’t been able to get it back and we’ve gone from dip, to full on slump to now something that bounces between corner turning and groundhog day.
The summer break will do some players the world of good. For others there’s the slog of the Euros which incredibly still looks like it’s going to be hosted all across the continent. Then there’s an Olympics which could see Salah off for a bit.
We’ll hopefully get important players back but we can’t expect their return alone to provide that impetus to snap us out of the funk we’re in. We’re still largely relying on the same group from the last 2-3 years. Ferguson always used to talk about freshening things up with new voices in the coaching staff and new players so that things didn’t get stale.
I imagine our season looks very different with fewer injuries and full stands but even then, every team has a cycle and we can’t wait a year too long to recognise when change is needed. Jota looks to be the first piece of that but I think this summer should see 2-3 more pieces of that transition come into play and probably most needed down the spine of the team.
Take our chances 1st half and we prob go through.
Need all hands on deck for the remaining league games we have to finish top 4
Front three consistently not good enough this season. This game crystallised, for those who weren’t already sure, that we absolutely must sign at least one high level alternative up top - possibly two with one of our formerly golden front three leaving and a tweak to our system. Obviously Mbappe etc is the dream but I wonder if we could be back in for someone like Ishmaila Sarr or with Watford back next year will they/he want another year in the PL first?
