Adrian is most likely to be gone. Naby and Ox are already leaving on a free transfer this coming summer. Milner might retire. Bobby might leave us for free at the end of the season. That is 2 nailed on departures in the midfield, 1 potential departure in midfield and one potential departure in the forwards. All of which will generate zero revenue.
Jones needs a lot of time to determine if he’s LFC first team’s standard, to which he hasn’t really turned up yet compared to Bajectic. Hendo’s unsellable for all sorts of reasons. Gomez has a valuable homegrown status and seems to be willing to play 3rd or 4th fiddle. Fabinho could be sold which generates revenue.
As for Thiago, if LFC do sell him, it will be quite low a price that it might not be worth it at all. Similar to Matip.
In all, we have Fabinho’s potential departure as only sellable asset with money coming into the club. I have no idea how is LFC gonna get that sort of revenue at all (be it the accumulated reserves and future earnings) to fund an overhaul of the engine room.
Looking back on the game and the entire debacle of a season, I hold Klopp as responsible as FSG if not more.
The financial model we have is known by all. You can criticize it, but it is well founded and makes perfect business sense. It has its limitations only to the extent that others are more willing to spend without constraint…
My problem with Klopp is about what he and his staff define as priorities.
I go back to the summer when he bristles about questions on his MF. Itemizes every role and kind of MF as covered.
But they saw a need for Tchoumeni. Not doing something on failing to get him is about choice and priority. And that MF has NOT been a priority for Klopp for more than 5yrs!
Football is a global game and there are always talent available. Today the focus on Bellingham is almost as if there is no other CM who can play for LFC.
I’m not buying it!
Klopp has made two major strategic mistakes that have cost us two seasons. With the failure to sign CDs a few years ago and now with CMs.
What is the point of the data team and the analytical tools available to him if they could not anticipate the total collapse of the MF?
Compare LFC to the succession planning at Madrid and the you begin to understand the gap in the results yesterday…

True. He was a warrior. He may have prevented a couple of those Real Madrid goals. But they would also have probably scored a couple more by just running past him and leaving him in the dust.
Probably has to do with Klopp saying he has learned the basis of what he developed by watching Sacchi (indirectly), and Ancellotti has learned it directly.
Of course Klopp has developed a totally unique style from there, but perhaps Ancellotti can figure him out by knowing the basis first hand…

Yeah it would be very low, maybe 20-30m for the pair plus the 15m in saved wages. Both contracts up next summer….but whats the alternative? Keep them around in the squad, spending half the season on the treatment room
only to get nothing for both next summer?
Mo refusing to leave the pitch as he still has a score to settle with Real Madrid
They’d only run past him once. They’d get Carraghered the second time
It was a run of the mill back pass that he shouldn’t have had a problem with. Okay I agree that they lost the ball in midfield but Gomez was well ahead of VJ and there didn’t seem any problem with his pass back. You’ve only got to look at Ali’s face to know that he knew what he’d done.

That’s the second time a Gomez-Ali passing fiasco has led to a disastrous goal. Don’t think that’s a coincidence
I don’t if it was always part of the plan, and I know Klopp like to keep a path open to new players, but Bajcetic has really saved the clubs bacon. My impression is that his step up has been a bonus. So fuck knows where we’d be if he had come in.
Prior to him coming in to the first team, we might have needed to spread the funds across three midfielders. Now we just need two.

Yes Gomez had defended the situation fine and had no problem with the back pass nor the decision to back pass myself but again I never mentioned Gomez in the lead up to the 2nd goal…it was down to the cheap turnover in possession, simple as. If we cut out the 20392932 mistakes in the build up to the 1 mistake which directly leads to the goal, we’ll be ok?
The number of times we pass back to Ali in general is a concern, it’s a result of little movement ahead of play…and very slow pedestriant build up which allows the opponent to shape up and be in a position to close us down.

in all fairness, we spent 100mil on two players and it didn’t solve our issues.
A path open for academy players has to be there, but without the platform of a fully functional team, it amounts to very little. You just have to look at Elliot’s case this season…
The succession planning has been terrible…except in the front line…

Ok, so the key is to spend no money.
Talk about arguing for arguments sake. Anything not to say, yep that’s correct.
Carlo is a great tactician. But a lot of those results are down to issues he hadn’t masterminded:
Kiev Final: Karius brainfart/concussion
Last CL final: Thibaut masterclass
Last night: It was Klopp actually
None of these have anything to do with his shrewd game plan.
Unless his game plan was to loiter in wait for our inevitable fuck ups and capatilising…then you could say it was a shrewd plan.
No decent defender does it with any regularity

Why would we move on Adrian? And if we do or don’t what effect positive or negative would it have?
Jones and Hendo is an opinion not a fact. I think they are good options as SQUAD players
Matip would be a good 4th choice defender. Bobby a good 5th or 6th choice forward. SQUAD players. They can still play a valuable role.
So again, not a dead squad but definately 2 midfielders and a defender would make a massive difference.
Agree with this, I don’t think it’s down to tactics alone, although it might play a role. Luck is of course a part of the game, but when luck is always on the same side, it becomes a trend which can’t be neglected anymore…
