Somebody one told me that the best teacher or coach of the game is the game itself.
Somehow Liverpool continue to be a poor student.
Up 2-0 they are still full throttle trying to score.

I donā€™t know. It reminds me of that tin cup movie. Jurgen and the Reds only know how to play one wayā€¦

They could have gotten compact, find with the tactical fouls and grounded out something.
Instead theyā€™ve killed themselves, will be tired for Saturday and the be second leg is all but done.

Itā€™s hard to not see the team absolutely folding after this one. Jurgen has his work cut out for himself. Any academy players that still have their legs?

Ecstatic for the 1st 20 minsā€¦then slowly we capitulateā€¦Aliā€™s boobooā€¦and the deflection off Gomezā€¦shit happensā€¦but we seem to lose all fight and never recoverā€¦we have 3 weeks to show we can fight backā€¦but we may only have 4th spot to aim forā€¦gawd I love this team, but we are hard work at the momentā€¦

After the initial couple of years under Klopp (the heavy metal phase), we turned into a team that would use their nous to control games. We could play full throttle, then swtich pragmatically in game to fit the situation, such as shut up shop.

At times we were perfect in this, apart from the injury madness spell a couple or more years ago (so much so that in this forum people would complain of us not pushing on for extra goals, or how boring the match was for themto see out the last 30 minutes by passing it around).

All has unravelled this season. A mix of injuries, tiredness, tactics (such as continuing with the right side high triangle without the legs in midfield) , and of course age. That bit of coldness in dealing with the unfolding situation seems to have gone.

A midfield refresh in the summer is on the cards, thatā€™s obvious to all. Just need to plough on our way through the rest of the season doing the best we can.

The Thomas Partey assault on Luis Diaz is still having ramifications. Missed most of the season, and he was the one that could naturally replace Sadio Mane.

1st half we were the better team. 2nd half we didnā€™t show up.
Bad refereeing didnā€™t help either. Klopp should of made changes earlier. Taking Nunez off did not make any sense.

Am I the only one who thinks the shove in the back of Darwin just before their 4th was a penalty?

Also, I thought there was a hint of offside in the build up to their 4th. ESPN 1 didnā€™t show any freeze frames. So not sure.

Fab hardly won any of his duels, canā€™t remember him winning a tackle and is way way too slow in transition, however, he was better on the ball than he has been

There third goal really pisses me off still.
Nobody on the Liverpool team moved.
Gomez gives it up and then the whole team does nothing.
Thatā€™s not legs or anythingā€¦ Itā€™s just being afraid.

In our pomp, Jurgens 1st subs were the midfielders so that we could maintain the work rate, now we donā€™t seem to have the players who can slot in and provide the same teamwork

Oh it was a pen but I expected nothing from that. I donā€™t think he knew VAR existed that or the bloke was asleep.

Nope definitely a penalty

4-3 is a big difference to 5-2.
Madrid can be got at. Unfortunately so can we.

On chances created we probably were on par with Madrid but either through poor control or weak finishing we didnā€™t score more whereas Madrid were clinical.

Jota got in a couple of good positions but due to rustiness miscontrolled. Itā€™s at least encouraging that he was in the right places.

That was a disgrace tonight, for more than one half of football.

One of the heaviest slaps in Europe in my following. I remember losing 0-3 at home to Basel, Napoli and some other sides beating us all over the park, but this was a really bad one that will go down in history.

Regardless that this is a Liverpool side that is 8th in the league against a Real side not having a great season so far, but doing better than us. This was unacceptable.

Start was great for about 15 minutes or so, but then in the next 15 our press started dropping, Real pulled Modric deeper to start orchestrating things and they pushed us back more and more.

What was frustrating from their first attacking actions was our retreating and giving opponents too much room. Some horrible goals to concede and at both ends.

That set-piece goal we conceded was probably the worst defensive set-piece Iā€™ve seen in my life and especially at the top level.

It was poor to see us collaps after a 2-0 lead, not even able to stop the leaks at 2-2 or 2-3. We looked lost, beaten, like children having complexes playing against Real.

For more than one half of football we were dead, the players, the fans and Kloppā€™s decisions tonight also. How Fabinho completed the full 90 minutes out there, Iā€™ll never know.

Tough one, after two positive performances/results.

Hopefully we can focus on the league straight away, but weā€™ll see how the team reacts after tonight.

Bloody streams didnā€™t work so was frustrated from the beginning so no comment just feel dissappointed.

He / she probably wants a referendum on whether or not to leave the FSG.

Iā€™m increasingly becoming a fair-weather fan. Having set the alarm for 04:50, when I woke up I realized how fucking cold it was and decided to stay in bed. Again. A smart move I think. Fully expect us to win the second leg 3-0 and go through on pens.
Away goals no longer count double in the event of a draw, do they?

Of course it is, in the minds of some people, FSG is the source of everything bad in this world.

Nah thats where you are wrong, if we had spent 200m in summer or winter, everything will be alright.

I think itā€™d be a lot better for sure.
