Hmph…let’s just slog through the rest of this accursed season.Salah-Gakpo-Nunez thing has started to work and Bajcetic can be effective in the PL…plus VVD is back albeit rusty. Hopefully we can string together a few results and get closer to top 4…assuming this heavy defeat won’t lead to lasting damage to the team confidence
Agree on quite a bit. Fabinho was crap. The defending was crap. But a ppen for us and it’s 4-3 not 5-2. Could and should have been 3-0 up before VJ’s goal. Klopp’s subs baffled me a bit. Defo not men against children.
He didn’t start too badly, skipped past a couple of challenges in the first 20, looked up for it….then this season’s Fab showed up
Yep, nothing against Fab but unless there’s a Lazarus type resurrection, I don’t want him anywhere near our mmidfield next season.
Totally agreed!
I am sure Chelsea or Manures are winning the league then
So 200 million quid in Klopp’s hands wouldn’t make a difference?
It wouldn’t make a difference if the players we buy end up injured, indifferent form. It would not have any difference if there are wrong tactics or tactics not carried out by players.
Nobody said we should not invest in players. But the rhetoric everytime we lose a game is Only because we did not buy Enough players and it’s purely only FSG fault is tiring, more tiresome than watching us lose.
Fab’s collapse has been one of the most inexplicable developments this season. He’s still only 29 years old.
Ok, I have to agree to disagree with this. 200 million quid wouldn’t have made a difference? SMH.
200mil will buy you players. Does it necessarily mean they will be good enough, they will stay healthy, they will fit into the team? That’s my point. Of course 200m can get you the players but results, if only it is that linear and simple, we might as well end the league the moment the transfer window closes.
And if today FSG says hey we can spend 200m within our means, I am not going to say as a fan, that I will be displeased. We might have different views but I trust all of us want only one thing, our club to succeed. But I just disagree that there is one way, to buy big on players, to reach there.
while all that might be true, i think theres a bit of a connection between funding, and consistent performance.
yes we can and have won a league and CL, but to look at the habitual names at the sharp end of most competitions over a prolonged period, and theres one thing in common.
even Madrid, who if you section off certain periods of expenditure can look to have underspent in certain periods…but i can only imagine that it would take a bizarre trick of accountancy to suggest that the Madrids, the Citehs, the Juves, the Bayerns dont spend more than any of thier comparative rivals…
the usual way to put down any form of comment regarding wanting the club to go deeper is to either
a) point to a club currently spending and not having success ( the chelsea defence)
or
b) ridicule the point and suggest we couldnt compete with Man city or Newcastle
i think the most frustrating thing is a fear that the horse has bolted…when we were purring along, with the best recruitment team in world football, making it look easy, there seemed an overriding theme that we could walk away from any deal… and as great as that made us feel morally and from a FFP POV, maybe we should have dug deeper…
@klopptomist loves a saying…never give a sucker an even break…kinda feels like that might have happened here though…
the loss to United a few games in felt like a moment in time (using hindsight)…
You’ll wait till next?
FSG should sort out our defence at set pieces and corners, complete idiocy it is atm.
They should also sort out a tactic, when are we going to use one?
Also our passing is going from bad to worst, FSG out!
Oh! and when we force an error we need to be as efficient as the opposition as we are no longer creating enough!
Which is due to not having a tactic, FSG out!
We’re stuck with him for now. As soon as Thiago is fit, he should be on the bench.
Yes but I didn’t say that did I? I just asked if 200 million quid would have made a difference.
Huge collapse after an amazing start to the game.
But joking aside, if Gomez hadn’t performed his trademark turning his back and hoping for the best act, he could have made a better job of closing down Vini for his first and Benzema for his first.
And best not to even get started on the pass back that should never have been on, that led to Allisons blunder.
I’d have Lovren over him in a heartbeat.
I don’t generally slag our players but if Gomez and Fabinho will be defending Vini Jnr in the second leg then God save us. Those two can’t defend even if their life is at stake
