Post match: Liverpool v Real Madrid (UCL FINAL 28/5/22 8pm)

we were tactically out done the night, thats what!

Uefa has issued a statement on the pre-match problems outside the stadiumā€¦

"In the lead-up to the game, the turnstiles at the Liverpool end became blocked by thousands fans who had purchased fake tickets which did not work in the turnstiles.

"This created a build-up of fans trying to get in. As a result, the kick-off was delayed by 35 minutes to allow as many fans as possible with genuine tickets to gain access.

"As numbers outside the stadium continued to build up after kick-off, the police dispersed them with tear gas and forced them away from the stadium.

ā€œUefa is sympathetic to those affected by these events and will further review these matters urgently together with the French police and authorities, and with the French Football Federation.ā€

What a load of bollocks

Even one of my Scum supporting friends commented that the ref gave us fuck all and did you see him at the end of the match seemed so happy that Real won it

Sometimes youā€™ve just got to hold your hands up and say the goalkeeper was exceptional. Canā€™t say we didnā€™t create chances, those saves from Mane and Salah were out of this world.

Another goalkeeper and we are probably talking about winning the cup tonight. Itā€™s was just one of those days when Courtois refused to concede.

The year we won the CL with JK, we also came 1 point behind city in the league. The difference was that we went out of the domestic cups early. Thatā€™s allowed the team to remain fresh. Feels like thatā€™s the crucial bit of difference here. The goalscoring in the finals with Chelsea is a red herring. Our teams match up in such a way currently that itā€™s difficult for either teams to score.

We just didnā€™t have our usual gas to push hard for goals today

Or we could say it was a great pass?

Can win all season long against the lesser teams. Couldnā€™t close the deal in the big competitions. Weā€™ve still got a level to step up.

Jurgen said he would never play football like that, maybe our front players could learn from Vinicius. :grinning:

Like everyone can see, we need something in the midfield. I think we will sign someone in summer.

As for the strikers, on todays game, with hindsight, it might have been better to start Bobby to play between the lines and bring Diaz in later, as Diaz didnā€™t get much change out of that one today.

Still, lots of great chances. Mane early on, low to corner, saved onto post. Salah earlier than that I think, low, behind goalie, but he got down. And Salah later on, great control, beats defender, clipped a decent right foot shot, another save. Plus lots of other lesser chances, but thatā€™s at least three world class saves.

Yeh right, one chance one goal. We didnā€™t take our numerous chances. Nothing to do with tactics.

We did not lose due to shithousery or the ref this time, we lost because TAA did one tiny nap and our forward were not sharp enough.

We need someone like Suarez as our nr 9.

Youā€™ve also gotta consider this is an ageing team, few of them pushing 30 now, which while is still relatively young, 4 years of heavy metal football takes its toll.

5 mins added on time displayed. A sub is also made. Real wasting time when they had a corner, with ref looking at his watch, but telling Trent to shut up as he has it all under control.

Then at 94ā€™50 seconds, Naby gets the ball, with two Real players around him. Naby skips past one, thereby taking both out the game. Real player pulls him back to stop the promising situation as there is acres of space in front of Naby.

Ref blows for a foul, with no yellow naturally. Other Real player boots the ball away to prevent a free kick. Itā€™s just ticked 95ā€™. Ref thinks it will be pefrect to blow for full time.

That sums up his performance to me.

true story

Need to recruit well in the next window. Really need another top midfielder and forward and thatā€™s on the basis we donā€™t lose any of our top players. As good as we are thereā€™s still room for improvement.

For me we gave Valverde too mush time to look up and pick the pass

Agreed. Not to mention when ref was going to get his medal I thought Modric and him were going to start making out. All Iā€™m saying is it never looks good coming from the losing side.

Tactically outdone by their keeper :grinning::grinning::grinning:

And yet we could have played till I sober up without scoring.
