Post match: Liverpool v Real Madrid (UCL FINAL 28/5/22 8pm)

I guess we do need to look at the manner of our goalscoring. We haven’t beaten City, Chelsea or Spurs this season (yes the spurs away was a travesty). But we need to be able to Nick games against top opposition without necessarily “playing well”

That’s what Madrid did over the last three rounds plus tonight

we never sit back under Klopp,

Ancelotti countered this with tactics

We played our game and were on the front foot for most of it. They dug in, spoiled it a bit, but also showed quality and got a goal on the break.

I saw the way the teams set their stall out as a testimony of how far this Liverpool side has come.

We came and bossed it, for the most part. (Well documented how iffy finishing and Courtois kept them in it). They were cagey, and nicked something.

I can’t go as far as calling them a small team, but their approach reminded me of a team that knew it was outmatched.

Still, they won’t care, as they are going home with the trophy.

Well, he needs to find a way around it. Either adjust the tactics accordingly or bring in someone that can accurately hit a long shot.

It nearly happened to us but Keita decided to boot it back to Anfield.

So what would do think Klopp should have done differently then?

You cant blame trent for the goal. Mishit shot poked home.

Well that’s me until august. Have a good sumner people. See you in august.

Little preturbed that there’s some panic to recruit after losing a final.

I can understand needing to look at the midfield and review the overall age of key players but no panic needed.

Personally I’d prefer a tactical tweak that looks at how we address low block teams. For me we seem to try and force the issue too often and end up coughing up possession.

question to u all… on tonites performance as well as the season , does Konate now become 1st choice along VVD?

Do you only come here to complain? I’ve never seen you praise the team when we win

Then he only has Jones left. But would you use Jones?

Particularly football, where outcomes are far more likely to be influenced by chance than other, higher-scoring sports (e.g. basketball). That’s why people love it, but when you’re the favorite, randomness favors the underdog (although Madrid’s God-given right to win the CL can also help). Courtois played a blinder but aside from the big Mane and Salah chances we could have worked him a lot better. Still a hell of a season and we go again. ***

*** feel much more optimistic than after the last CL final defeat

prepared them better tactically?

like Ancelloti did to for his team?

It really looked like an FA Cup game against lower league opposition. Real Madrid defended brilliantly, and caught us with a sucker punch. They actually only really started to play after the goal.

Yeah, we have to start phasing out some of the old guard.

No panic needed. We are brilliant.

Evolve the midfield with someone to come and boss it. Younger. Athletic. Tchouameni, or if not him, similar sort of player. That’s the main need.

Then let’s see what happens with the strikers. Carvalho looks a very good player who will grow. Diaz will have a preseason. Mo will have a rest.

We will be well placed to fight hard for everything again next time.

Changed Mo’s boots :grinning: 5 shots on target and nothing.

Great season this one, better ones coming. I’m grateful to be a Reds Fan.

i agree…

No & I think Carvalhio takes his place in the squad now and this may well be the end of Jones.
