Post match: Liverpool v West Ham (ELC 20/12/23 8pm)

It is indeed and it still isn’t decided if those will be played on neutral venues.

Even Jones’ biggest fans would admit he needs to speed it up at times.

The problem comes when our fans hyper focus on it and forget all the other stuff he does for the team.

I missed the entire game because the internet at my hotel died for a few hours but having watched the highlights (just the goals, no extended highlights yet) then I’ll say that second goal for Jones is the talent those of us who watched him at youth level have been used to. He can do things that just make the game look so easy.

Anyone else notice how after Bowen scored the WH players just acted like it was a consolation. There were 15 minutes left. Plenty of time for two goals. I’d have been pissed off if our players acted like that.

Been a problem for a while - miserable old bastards completely uninterested and unimpressed by anything. I remember sitting in the Main Stand in a section of season ticket holders, Suarez lost the ball and the old guy behind me started moaning about how David Fairclough was a “proper player” and he can’t stand watching the team now.

Just fucking leave then - there’s thousands of people on the waitlist you cantankerous twat.

My guess is that they are not arsed about this cup their efforts are all focused on Europe and the league. I hope we reach the final but I would not be heartbroken to lose it as every time we win the league cup we tend not to win anything for a few years after that

That must have hurt!

Jurgen and the boys work their socks off for 7 days a week… all he is asking is that the fans in attendance do it for just 90mins -

It’s a tough thing to talk about, and it is usually a thankless task for a manager, but someone with the gravitas of Klopp will get a hearing. The atmosphere is a bit too flat a bit too much, and the fans can do more by getting themselves a bit more up for it.

The flip side is that an electric atmosphere is not something you can just assume. The ingredients need to be there, whether that is an intense rivalry, a high stakes game in a high stakes competition, or some incident in or around the fixture that adds extra spice. And ideally something to get you off the edge of your seat too. Not much to ask for, is it? :joy:

That was the kind of performance we need, more often, sure it was WH and both sides played a number of backup players, but it was a good team effort ,Jones and Elliott stood out for me,Jones in particular will surely start against Arsenal and Elliott can be far away, either.

Coming to Anfield is no easy feat, we’re complete different animals. Especially on a cold windy Wednesday night.

Thats why I have been on the fence with Jones, because he wasn’t showing the end product that I had seen in youth games.

He has played well this season, but tonight’s game was a massive step up in the final 3rd and what I hoped he would bring to the Liverpool starting 11, add that to his now excellent work rate and I hope there is no looking back for him

Wonderful performance. Viewed it in a very happy—though understandably sparse Wednesday afternoon— pub.

ESPN+ on live stream was a sketchy thing. Like watching Max Headroom on the pitch. It was Fish and Chips Special Wednesday, so all was right with the world

Nice to score some goals a plus that they came in both halfs!

Thought I changed it :rage::rage::rage:

One of the most one-sided matches I’ve seen in a long time. We were brilliant but if I was a poverty-shaming, pie and mash eating dickhead I’d want my money back.
7 or 8 of our lads with genuine claims to MOTM, went for Endo, Jones and Elliott in the end but Tsimikas, Gomes, Quansah etc were all great.
