What I find really odd about this season is we’ve now had about 4 or 5 really superb games (This, Leciester, Chelsea, Arsenal and Atlanta) in which we’ve generally outplayed the opposition to the point you can’t see us losing.

Last season I generally believe we had literally one up to the point of December and we then played a few times in which we generally dominated most notably Leciester, it was attrition at times last season this has been that at times WHU and SU spring to mind.

We’ve also probably deserved more points than we got especially the Everton game which should have seen them down to 10 men at 1-0 down and a very dubious late winner chalked off.

Even with dubious VAR decisions, even with 89 games missed in total for our players even with arguably injuries to 6 or 7 first team players and the drafting of a 3rd choice keeper we remain joint top of the league and have sailed through a tough group in Europe with a game to spare and top of that as well.

If other clubs start to suffer even a third of our injuries they won’t be able to deal with it, I would say the closest so far have been Leicester and Man City but the latter hasn’t been in the same league, they’ve lost one or two we’ve been down 4-5 and a few long term.

Yeah, we’ve been robbed of 4 points so far this season and that’s the only reason Spurs and the others are close.

The Brighton one is debatable but Everton not in the slightest, red card for Pickford and they are sunk, a much better Chelsea team couldn’t cope at 0-0, Everton were already one down.

It’s not that Pickford is great but it’s more the one less player on the pitch, anyhow I noted our away form isn’t great, 16th best saying that we’ve probably played the two toughest teams away, been screwed twice and in one of those games played a team that only shows up twice a year for us.

Our home form however smashes everyone else’s, I assume we improve on the road but if we can keep our home form up we should be up there come the end.

This season is panning out well, in spite of all the injuries. We have City and Chelsea to come to Anfield, Spurs home and away to put them at a points disadvantage as I believe they would be our league challengers.
To top it off, once our group of injured players come back and Jurgen has a full set of tools to play with, watch out - I smell a potential CL and PL double.
And of course, backed by our 12th man - our Anfield crowd.

We’ve climbed to 3rd in terms of goal difference! That’s a helluva rapid turn around.

As I put in my match review, only the officials can stop us.

Great performance from the lads and a great result.Good to see,and hear the fans back in Anfield even if only a couple of thousand.
That would have lifted the lads, just a bit!
Thought all of them did well,Kelleher looking pretty comfortable in goal, really great to see,Defence was well up to it ,apart from a minor hiccup.
Hendo bossed the midfield,we really miss him when he is out,A good one from Gini too.
The only way from here is up.
Wolves are not a bad side at all,but we were largely unstoppable.

What worries me is the negativity on the negativity. That can only be negative.
In times like this I take any enjoyment that’s thrown at me.

Well, thats honest and refreshing. Even though it was obvious that the Coady dive wasnt a pen we were all nervy waiting for a decision. But the decision would have been too biased if a pen was awarded. For reference of why we need to worry look at Robbo on Welbeck vs Chilwell for Chelsea…same “foul” different outcome.

A London club, Spurs or Chelsea have to win the title this year as balance needs to be restored. Arsenal were lauded as the challengers and they are muck. The narrative is Lampard, young English and brilliant or Kane, England captain and brilliant, they are being vaunted as the media desire to win trophies. Klopp will be demonised, how dare he pick on poor old Chris Wiĺder fir example…

by the way…
Liverpool will only win trophies by being the best. They will not get assistance like Spurs or Chelsea, or City for the last two years. LiVARpool is a media constructed myth to make it easier for the uneducated to accept that we are actually good…challenges over the last thirty years were quashed…Fergie demonised Rafa and Suarez, SKY ridiuled Gerrards “slip” whilst Terry got a free pass for his pen miss…we will be the best only by being just that, the very best.

Imagine how loud YNWA would have sounded without everyone wearing masks. Unbelievable.!

I held off posting last night because I thought I might post something over the top and too sentimental. I just found the whole thing really emotional. It was the sight of fans on the Kop. Real singing, not fake crowd noise. I was joining in, bouncing up and down to the Bobby song which didn’t go down so well with the people in the house who were trying to watch Strictly Come Dancing in the other room, but I didn’t care. When JK did the fist pumps I lost it completely. Get the fuck in. Watched it again and again on a loop. God I miss Anfield.

The performance was perfect. We have no right to be playing this well with so many injuries. Kelleher is as cool as a cucumber. Didn’t put a foot or hand wrong. Jones bossing the midfield like a seasoned veteran. Gini’s goal. Trent’s cross for the 4th. We even had a VAR decision go our way. I wouldn’t have changed any of it. It felt like football had finally returned again last night.

You brought another tear to my eye/eyes. Yes brilliant to have fans back I got pretty emotional about it as well.

What? really. I took a look at the replay, Mane’s boot was never actually up. Doubly I saw the ref give a penalty, then it be reversed by VAR, leading to a goal kick which Kelleher distributes to Robertson. There is no foot up or indirect free kick, the Ref has cocked it up and then half got it right, but not fully.

My only thought was if he can’t book Coady because that would count as “re-refereeing” the game which isn’t the intention of VAR (so they claim).

A foul was awarded to us! (it was marked up on the board). It was Coady’s foot that was high and studs showing which was the foul and only foul in the sequence. Something picked up by VAR. For once VAR actually worked.
Personally I’m not sure about Coady going down, he’s no balet dancer or gymnast and I reckon lifting his foot up so high (above his hip) would result in him flopping to the ground like a dead weight.
Don’t ask me what the ref saw but at least VAR saw it correctly.

Edit: My commentators gave a similar sketch to that, in the end.
