Post match: Liverpool v Wolves (FAC 7/1/23 8pm)

No, my comment was about Thiago.
If I wanted to comment about Fabs I would have and wouldn’t be a comparison just my observation of him.
Time to grow up!

When you are struggling collectively maybe it’s a good idea not to cough up possession 30 yards from your goal several times every match.
I thought the 2nd goal we conceded against Brentford was as bad as it could get but somehow we managed to outdo it. Fucking shambolic.
That Keita now looks our best bet in midfield fills me with dread. He needs to start from now on and then be shown the door in the summer.
Trent, Nunez and Keita my 3 votes for MOTM, disappointed in Gakpo who looked terrified to have the ball…I’d rather he tried to be creative and lose it rather than play safe 5 yard passes all night.
Crowd were just as bad, once they equalised nobody gave a fuck and the rest of the game was played out in silence.

If that is our tactics it aint evident from watching apart from the Nunez in behind

Shows how shit we are when Ben Doak has 25% of the motm votes.

He played about 9mins…

I still disagree, I would play Thiago 6 as he would have less running, as Fab at 6 isn’t controlling the game for us and his defensive side has fallen off a cliff. For me we need someone at 6 that can dictate the tempo and Fab is far from that player

‘Time to grow up’ stop being a dick!!

Fair enough.

The main thing, far more important than which of the older crop we keep, is that they need some help.

If we sign two like Caicedo and Bellingham, I’m honestly not overly bothered about which ones of the old guard we retain. Before too long Bajcetic will be in front of them anyway!

Agree, however I still want players to come in that are good in possession as keeping and progressing with the ball are a major issue as well as the defensive side

Anyhow one thing that Wolves manager is going annoy a fair few in the near future. Couldn’t stop moaning in the Man Utd game and more moaning tonight. His default position.

Guys already annoying.

He was playing on the wing for them. The technical area was but a suggestion.

:kissing_heart:

TAA and Nunez the only positives. Everyone else who started was either mediocre or horrific (Henderson, Fabinho) or something in between. There are so many things wrong game after game that repeating them offers nothing. Other than to say that if anything, we’re getting worse; we can’t defend set pieces either now.

Klopp has to try something different. Another formation, different starters, something new. Restore some solidity, stop giving up so many easy chances, cut out the idiotic mistakes. Otherwise, this season is as good as done.

Please don’t throw petty accusations around.

If you go into the match thread, you’ll see that I initially thought the Wolves disallowed goal should stand, until it was pointed out that the offending player wasn’t in the frame.

Regarding Salah’s goal, my understanding of the rule was that an attacker can receive the ball in an offside position if the defender make a deliberate attempt to play the ball. I’ve seen fall foul and also benefit from that in the past. That was also obviously the commentary team’s understanding, and the referee and VARs understanding as well. @Limiescouse has a posted a more recent interpretation of the law which is interesting, and would mean Mo was offside. However I think he might be only one who read that memo :joy:

The various authorities really have tied themselves in knots with their interpretations of offside.

Here’s an idea: keep it simple. If a player is offside when the ball is played, that’s it. Personally, I would change the definition of offside to the position of the attacking player’s back foot, in order to eliminate all this shoulder and armpit rubbish, but that’s just me.
