Post Match: Man City v Liverpool (EPL 23/2/25 4.30pm)

Yeah, and also, they are not as good as we are.

A very professional display and well earned three points. First time I’ve seen one of Slots teams play as defensively as we did second half but his tactics paid off good style. If Trent defends for Real Madrid like he did today against Doku he’ll be back playing for us in the 26/27 season.. Luckily with Mo and Konate’s help it didn’t cost us.

Hopefully he’ll have stayed with us in 26/27

I hope so too but I very much doubt it.

That felt like a big result. Not done yet, but that was a big step. Arsenal’s unexpected loss at home to West Ham will have had them hoping we would lose too. It’s a tough away game at Man City, but we were magnificent.

There are different ways to win games, and we did what we needed to do today. We let them have the ball and they padded their possession and passing stats, but then crucially we were resolute in our own third. Great defending. And then we had a sharp edge on the break when needed, and but for a tight call it could have been even more comfortable.

Very disciplined indeed. Lots of hard work went into that, and even though it wasn’t as easy on the eye as most of our games, it was impressive.

Salah, Szoboszlai and Van Dijk were the three I picked, in that order. But the whole team did its job and that was a big three points on the road to the title.

'I am a little lost why we are looking out of shape defensively as the beginning of the season we we had a solid shape.

Our issues are mainly down our right and I thought earlier in the season Mo worked back more but it seems as though he isn’t being asked to do that"

Above is the post I put in the post Villa thread.

Today no goals conceded and part of that was Mo’s efforts to help Trent, who was never outnumbered, brilliant effort from Mo and his attitude to help was exceptional, would like to see it in more games, but also understand that we have to save his legs.

Much calmer and professional performance today. We were clinical with limited chances and resolute in defence. Citeh never looked like scoring despite being camped on our penalty area for 20 mins 2nd half. Always felt we could up the tempo if necessary.

In the league, sure. But Arteta is under intense pressure to win something, so the CL pressure intensifies. Plus their next two PL matches are against ‘name’ sides (ManU and Chelsea) both of which will be desperate for a big win to salvage their season as best as possible.

How many chances did Doku create in the entire game?

How many crosses did he get into the box that led to a shot on goal?

In football analysis, context is everything. Without it, all we’re left is hot air…

In the 45 I saw he did fuck all.

Well Forest before then.

On paper it’s their hardest run, on form it looks rather straight forward but I’d be surprised if they take 9 from 9.

They’ve got what you think being at home would be ok for them but they are against teams who can get results.

The vital thing for us the fact we now have a large home run which though difficult would ultimately win us the title if won.

That starts Wednesday, kind of glad Newcastle played earlier today as well.

I’d like to know what the second shot was in the second shot for them.

Was it Tsimikas?

Here’s another stat.
Phil Neal has won the same amount of European Cups as Man City & Man Utd combined

Beating them in the CL final might just tip him over the edge

Doku certainly gave Trent a worried time. But I had the sense we kind of set up to allow him space and 1 v 1 against Trent out wide while making sure there were numbers to defend the box so all Trent was really being asked to do was draw his focus and slow him down a little.
