We would face them in the semis, wouldn’t we? In any case, I doubt it will come to that. If they can lose against the Hammers at the Emirates, they are no lock to get past PSV.

Today Slot and his team found a solution to the Trent so called weakness by making the wingers on both sides come back to help the fullback cope with what teams have been doing for a while ie ganging up on them as a tactic. That also made it easier to have a clean sheet. Benitez was quite adept at doing the same in the league but mostly in Europe.

Thought they played Forest during the week?

Wonderful professional performance. Really never looked troubled.

I know it’s not over yet, but 7 of our 11 games yet to play will be at Anfield. I feel confident!

Just discovering the result . :+1:
Before the game, I wrote that champions raise to a big occasion when needed.
We now know that this squad is champions material. Hopefully they will continue on this path until the rest of the season, and eventually lift the title trophy as they deserve. Fingers crossed!

It’s over Stevie lad, you can relax.

Arsenal we’re talking about here not 2022 City. Sorry, mustn’t forget…injury crisis Arsenal.

Great results from a difficult run. Those draws against AV and Everton don’t look to bad now.
.
On to Wednesday and then a week off. I hope the players enjoy it.

What decision was that?

My son made a good point, he said he hoped we wrap up the league before the Arse visit at Anfield to force them to give us a guard of honour?

That was pretty much the statement away win I was talking about pre-match. No brain-farts, no gifting the opposition a goal to get them back in the game, just a solid defensive display where even the most pessimistic amongst us couldn’t really see City scoring a goal.
We did a Forest on them. I’ll be honest I didn’t really think we had that sort of performance in us, we don’t generally keep teams out when they have that amount of possession in our final 3rd but tbh City were fucking toothless and Konate and VVD cut out any crosses into our area with ease.
My only bug-bear was our propensity to cough up possession too easily. We really don’t look after the ball very well. 2nd half especially we struggled to put more than 2 or 3 passes together so the pressure was constantly on the defence.
Salah MOTM obviously, Szoboszlai was good as were the 2 CB’s. Good to see Endo get 20 minutes and interesting to see him slot in between VVD and Konate rather than sit in front.

Sorry, yes, I was continuing from a comment about that match. They play Forest(a)-PSV-ManU(a)-PSV-Chelsea.

Offside goal, I don’t think they quite took the right frame.

The only negative comment I will direct at VAR for chalking off the szoboszlai goal because his toenail was offside?

Great way to come back after a couple of draws, the blue Mancs were never in the hunt.
Still 11 games to go so not going to start celebrating just yet, but still over the moon, thought it would be a hard one, but we were up for it.
MOTM for me Mo!

Do people actually care that much about these things.

It was good to force the cheaters to do it but frankly couldn’t care much about it.

You can criticise VAR for a lot…but not sure you can for calling offside as offside regardless of which body part that may’ve been unless of course it’s a complete balls up like Diaz at Spurs and it’s clear to Stevie Wonder’s naked eye, a wrong call’s been made.

You are right of course a bit childish but it would be dead funny.

I actually can because we got a goal adjudged a goal after VAR thought that it was not offside as the toenail was flagged offside.
