Post Match: Man City v Liverpool (EPL 23/2/25 4.30pm)

Not so arsed by a guard of honour. Very keen not to go through a week of “Super Decider Sunday” nonsense and endless chat of Michael Thomas '89 in the build up to the game.

Yeah that has crossed my mind.

With an 11 point lead (8 if they win their game in hand), the chances of it still being in doubt with 3 matches to play are fairly low. Absolutely could happen, but they will need to win a lot of games to keep that pressure on.

And, to paraphrase the great Mickey Owen, Arsenal very rarely win if they don’t score a goal.

Focus on the Sandcastle Barcodes Wednesday.

That needs to be the only focus. :muscle:

That’s incredible harsh. I think Trent defended him really well, and it looked like the strategy with Doku was to hold him up and wait for a second player.

I think I found this game a lot easier than others. Never felt like they were ever close to scoring.

Have to say once we got into half time I did feel it easy to watch the second half.

I didn’t celebrate when the ball went in the net as I felt Szoboszlai was off.

Funnily none of the Trent is shite contingent saw or understand this concept .

Doku ran him ragged let’s be honest, anytime he decided he wanted to go past him…he did. It was inevitable before the game that would be the case, but I wasn’t quite expecting it to be into double figures…it’ just a good thing for us Doku is completely shit at everything else.

However, he did get beat several times by not holding him up?

That was my criticism in game, that the way to players like Doku is to let them play in front of him and then get bodies around him.

Although, Trent never gave in and he was an option for a motm for me, for that, but in the end other performances deserved it more

Carragher summed up Doku’s play really well in one clip I saw today.

‘You would hate to play against him. But would you really love to play with him?”

I thought it was a brilliant quip. Obviously a nightmare to defend. But if he was a teammate the lack of end product would be infuriating.

As for Trent, he did his job, up against a very tricky opponent, and Trent, along with the rest of the side, limited them to 0 goals. It almost looked like the longer it went on the less likely they were to score. We defended really well and Trent was part of that.

What a result. Puts the nervousness of the previous two results to bed

You get that the wrong way round?

Doku is a very predictable footballer with no end product and no brain cells.

  1. Gets the ball into the wings
  2. Runs to the by line
  3. Sees himself get blocked by opponents
  4. Passes back into the midfield.
  5. Rinse and repeat.
Doesn’t matter if Liverpool were double marking him, he still wouldn’t have done anything else. Absolutely no end product. Shit Adama Troare.

I only chose Salah for the MOTM. Everyone was very good but Salah with one goal, one assist and his overall play, was just heads and shoulders above the rest

His whinges are usually reserved for Man U. He’s often complimentary about us, as he is in his most recent YT video. I won’t put a link to it in this thread because we all know where it is, but the title of his video is ‘Liverpool Just Won the Title’.

I’m really glad I managed to stay awake until 03:30 to witness a thoroughly professional performance. As Goldbridge said, we “schooled” them and we didn’t even have to try too hard. Just score a couple and then keep them at arm’s length.

Newcastle must be bricking it right now, although of course we shouldn’t get too cocky and start taking things for granted.

The 2 Merseyside clubs are the only undefeated ones in the last 6 matches. (LFC in 23).
