Post match: Man City v Liverpool (FAC 4/4/26 12.45pm)

Maybe the reason they are not performing is the manager / coach. As for who is not performing, it’s pretty much all of the players who were with the club last season.

Slot must go. He should go now, but the club won’t do that. But we have to identify and come to an arrangement with a new guy right now, be that Alonso or somebody else.

I’m trying to think of some positives here. I’m meant to be in Liverpool on cup final day, so at least the pubs won’t be mobbed.

I think I am just resigned to the shitness now, so it isn’t bothering me that much. Or maybe having been alcohol free for the last 40 days, the beer goes straight to your head.

How many times does Dom or VVD have to say not good enough, no fight etc. look at yourselves lads.

We lost games under Klopp but the performance of the players left a hope we could turn it around anytime. I don’t see that hope under Slot. Same team, same tactics, rinse and repeat.

Its come to a stage where I don’t bother if Slot stays anymore. I am fairly confident that that we will have a new manager next season. All I want is our players to perform, for the rest of the season, that the next coming one isn’t as clueless as the current one.

Probably on about another nine occasions, before the end of the season.

The problems run far deeper than Slot. He should have gone by now, no question about it, along with all his staff.

Salah and Chiesa will be gone. Gakpo too in an ideal world. That’s 3 who’ll need replacing plus the back-up we’ve been sorely missing all season.
Jones and MacAllister should be gone too. Jones has never pushed on and Mac is a shadow of the player we signed. Endo will probably leave. So there’s another 3.
Robbo might go. Joe might go. Konate should be sold. VVD can’t have another season playing every minute. Frimpong and Bradley are made of biscuit.

Like I said, the problems run deeper than Slot. The whole squad/ management team is rotten. The re-build will take years.

They all played as if they wanted to win…they fought…but what the team talks are like now…I hate to think…Klopp installed into the LFC team…u can win..u will win..
U want to win…looks like exactly the opposite now…

Arne Slot on why the players aren’t doing the basics of football (tracking runners, not blocking crosses, etc etc)

“What’s my answer? That I don’t agree with what you are saying. But in moments you are completely right so if you tell me 15 runs Man City are making, and 15 times my players don’t run, I disagree with you, but if you said simply look at the goals, then I see runs that are not being followed, I see crosses not being blocked, I see duels not being won, then you are completely right. But that’s not the whole story of the game but every single time we forget to block a cross we forget to defend in front of goal, we forget, we forget to follow our runner, every single time it’s a goal.

“I don’t think they had a chance after the 1-0 till the scored the 2-0. I completely agree with you - the way we concede a goal, I see the same patterns but that’s not the pattern of the whole 90 mins but that’s the pattern of how we concede a goal. You sometimes lack of needs to understand that if you are 1-0 down near at half time you have to everything to go 1-0 down at half time.”

Arne Slot’s message to the Liverpool fans who left the stadium early frustrated:

“We don’t want them to leave early. We have to perform better and that’s the first thing. We have to show now that we react after a loss like this and after so many disappointments we’ve already had this season, the good thing is the fans are always supportive, even today during large spells in the first half they were loud, before the game they were loud. It’s up to us not only to react to them but also to ourselves, that’s what we need to do on Wednesday who are a very good team. In moments of defending we need to be more ruthless than we’ve been today.”

Klopp was a fantastic man-manager, great motivator and commanded respect, but he could be scary too. I wouldn’t like to have been on the wrong side of him as a player. I remember his player quote " I am their friend, but not their best friend"

I am not saying Arne isn’t, maybe he is too nice.

We can only sit and be armchair managers…we think we know whats wrong…but it could be something we don’t know anything about…Alonso…Gerrard…who…who the fuck is going to take us on…who would want to…would Alonso, Gerrard do any better…I would hope so…I can’t think of any other combination…Leiva…Torres…would love Milner…but thats impossible at the moment…running our of ideas… help…

Ox was interviewed on TAW this week. Basically said he learned to press because he was scared of Klopp. And everyone was equal. Salah just as likely to get a bollocking as anyone else. Also that they loved him and seeing Klopp give a fist pump when he made a tackle on the left back made him want to work harder

All of that confidence, and strong mentality, which Klopp instilled in his time with us, gone, in less than a year. That is disturbing. I can’t see any other Klopp like coaches/managers out there, so what do we do?
