Post match: Napoli v Liverpool (UCL 7/9/22 8pm)

Which will benefit us in the 2nd half, provided that we must get through the UCL Group Stage. World Cup participation will be a poisoned chalice.

That is a huge assumption, assuming we make it to the knockout stages and not end up in Europa league come Jan 2023.

I will call it after our match against Ajax next week. If we win we will pass through.

Hope spring eternal.

I really hope we win or else, the alarm bells will start ringing at Boston.

You actually believe that? You actually believe that any manager wouldn’t want the 3 best prime midfielders in the world?

Yes, because I believe that Jürgen Klopp is someone who cares very much about the human aspect of things. I highly doubt he cares much for the state of free spending that football has been in for the last 20 years. I think he’s more interested in developing people.

So which player (who is currently fit) do you think Klopp would rather improve than sign a world class one?

Look, I’m one of Klopp’s biggest fans. The poles will melt before I turn on him. I think FSG do an excellent job, considering they’re not uber-rich oil sports washers. The idea that no no, Klopp would rather improve his own players than sign other better and fitter ones might be loyal and commendable but viewed dispassionately, doesn’t hold up.

I think you’re on slushy ground here.

They’re already melting. Maybe, ‘The Tories will do something about climate change before I turn on him’

surely bournemouth didnt out do us in all of the above?

surely?

just out of interest what happened in 94? which english liverpool payers played…given that Aldo and Houghton were well gone…was it Staunton? did he play?

Technically: none.
Bjornebye is Norwegian, Whelan is oIrish and Babb who was born in UK didn’t play for us until 94-95…

That would be a bonus

That will not a problem this coming year because I don’t see how we can make it to the final again. The season ends on May the 28th.

As Fabinho looks like he’s running through treacle, most of the time and has the turning circle of a cruise ship, I don’t know how he could’ve prevented anything.

Jones, Elliott, Carvalho, Bajcetic (wouldn’t sign someone to block his development pathway).

Of the injured players, KeĂŻta and Oxlade-Chamberlain were name-checked as players we like having because they fit our profile and are of the right ages.

And neither of them will make the slightest improvement to our midfield.

I don’t know why the midfield is getting singled out so much when collectively, the whole team just isn’t doing what they should be. Diaz was better against Napoli, but he hadn’t exactly been taking up the right positions either before that…

The midfield was so bad no protection for the defence and fuck all creativity for the front men, like 3 individuals that just met 2 look about 40 and a school boy :boy:.
