Post match: Nottingham Forest v Liverpool (EPL 22/10/22 12.30pm)

Matip, Konate, Keita, Thiago, Arthur, Darwin, Diogo, Diaz

Being able to rotate with those players we would have easily win today.

But we had to most intense game of the season on Sunday. Played again on Wednesday and then again today relying on a small group of senior players.

What do we expect? This is no video game.

No hard feelings from me today.

Fair comment there German Red.

We are all disappointed, as even with depleted resources we would hope to beat bottom of the table Forest, but we didnā€™t have enough in the tank or do enough on the pitch.

Part of our success comes from the money we get from being picked by the TV companies for these sorts of non-3pm Saturday KOs. But there needs to be some sort of limitation on who gets the Saturday earl kick off. Getting it after a sunday game the week before is wrong. Doing so after having played in the second of the midweek round of fixtures is even worse.

Defence done well especially our keeper Gomez passing piss poor though, Midfield struggled badly even with bobby helping out , Fabinho really poor. Very little up front service or effort.

I think the point I was trying to make was that heā€™s not been anywhere close to his best, and yet heā€™s still been pretty good.

Heā€™s just not going to be able to produce the magic when everything else is broken.

Essentially why I donā€™t feel that upset at the team.

Too slow and not clinical enough. Fabinho is having his worst year since joining. Carvalho was out muscle too easily from the ball. Firminho Gomez Virgil all had an off day. With the exception of Elliot,Ali,Jones we were poor.

Looks like it was a good thing that I missed the game. Welcome back @LaurazRed .

Fair enough. I definitely agree with the first sentence.

The magic part is understandable too, as it is that much harder to produce when so much is going wrong.

Still, thatā€™s when a bit of magic, against the odds, can really lift a side. With it, you might get some points even when they are undeserved.

But itā€™s a fair point. Expecting it is asking a bit too much, in the circumstances.

But it would have been nice :sunglasses:

The men who get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a week, this isnā€™t a one game kneejerk, this is watching the same performance from Fulham, day 1 repeat itself over and over.

Iā€™d have far more acceptance of your point if they didnā€™t put out the performance against City where they did show desire, they did show fight, they did play with intensity.

Letā€™s look at Robbo, he was rested mid-week so why is he putting in such a lack lustered performance? Bar Salah and Van Dijk they are all getting lots of rest, so tiredness seems a stretch. If you are talking about the knock on from last season, then I agree but thatā€™s on the management to have refreshed the squad and not asking players with nothing left to give whose given it all and more to go againā€¦

What we all seem to agree with is that the level of intensity and overall workrate is down and with it the performances. If you can acknowledge that there are plenty of other circumstances to explain why that is that your constant badgering of players for not giving a shit doesnt go down well when these are players who have shown over and over again that isnt who they are.

Not the only tired lazy trope in that post, if you noticed. Thereā€™s also their pay. How dare humans who get paid so much a week be human?

As though their pay has any relevance to the literal physical and mental limits of their bodies.

Iā€™ve come to accept that just because someone played for us doesnā€™t mean they show us in a positive light. This applies for Macmanaman and Hamann. Frankly theyā€™re both dicks

And players who have won it all can lose desire. It must be incredibly hard to keep motivating yourself to push through fatigue year on year. Hence why my view is we needed to refresh the squad more in the summer, especially the midfield. Mentally and physically some players look spent.

Mcmanaman is a proper clown even when ref giving us a free kick he s mumbling it should not be.

A reasonable position. But then why such vitriol, so constantly, directed at the players who you seem to acknowledge just physically cannot raise themselves anymore?

donā€™t want to criticize the team, as they really took us on a wonderful ride last season, just feel disappointed and frustrated with the results and the agenda from the way referees have against us a lot of times in our games

I maintain that Wijnaldum was a huge loss for us and never been replaced. I really feel he was such a vital player for us if we could get someone like him would be great.

But truth is we need an overhaul. Way too many injury prone and average players.

You stand still in the PL at your peril. Limited investment in 2 years and we are proper fooked.

The sad part about today I feel is that if we could have just clicked for 10-15mins at any point we would have got a couple of goalsā€¦
Shit happens and it is not easy to ā€˜cobbleā€™ a side together every 3-4 days with injuries still piling up and expect us to perform majesticallyā€¦
Looking forward to CL this week and have a breather from the PL

When Gini was here we had fans moaning about him not creating anything and wanted A replacement.
