Didn’t see the game but delighted to see the result, and goals from Div and Taki are welcome. I will be interested to find out more about Morton. Do we think he has a chance of making it here?
With City now out, I am officially arsed about this comp.
Neco keeping us from our run of 3+ away. Just square for the Mini tap in, selfish fuck.
He looked calm in possession. He needs to spend the next year shadowing Fab, eating the same thing for breakfast, doing the same fitness exercises, watching the same tv shows. Then he might have a chance.
Their vanquishers in trophies this season: Leicester, West Ham, us, us, us.
I voted Morton, Adrian and Williams. Like everyone else, I like what I see with Morton. The confidence he has is impressive. You can see that with his passing. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
I’m going to be honest and say that I am not really a fan of Williams in general. Without contest the player in and around our first team with the least skill and ability and is the most one dimensional. The ‘running down blind alley’ move gets picked by the defense by the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time he tries it depending on the quality of the opposition.
But you’ve got to play it as you see it, and he was involved in two of the goals, presented for his one on one, and his face stopped the only proper chance they had all night. Worked his socks off all night. So he gets my vote as well.
I think Tsimkas deserves a bit of credit on that second also, it’s a deft little effort that comes off the bar.
Hopefully we get a good draw … Like sunderland in the quarters where the rest of the lot knock themselves out
After a lacklustre 1st half we turned up in the 2nd half. I think that if Milly hadn’t been injured on Sunday then maybe either he or the skipper may have been on the bench for this tie. I myself think that it was an older more experienced head in midfield that was needed tonight.
IMO we were a little bit inexperienced in the middle of the park. However, this was the Carabao Cup and I can see why Jürgen never risked any senior players tonight. We’ve still gone through. Those first teasers who were on the bench never had to do anything and we should have a full squad (less the injuries that we know about) to choose from this weekend.
I’ve been to PNE a few times now and have to say that I enjoy going there. Easy to get to and from (just over an hour from The Wirral). The ground, Deepdale is decent and the locals and the stadium staff are mostly good sorts. One of the stewards in our end was asking me about my scarf and told me that she was a Liverpool fan.
I went with Adrian, Neco and Nat for my MOTM choices. Neco for his 2 assists. Adrian for keeping us in it 1st half and Nat for a great performance in the 2nd half.
Pretty ordinary first half, with Adrian keeping us in it.
Second stanza somewhat better.
Liking what I see in Morton, could be a very useful addition in time,MOTM for mine.
Neco ,a decent outing but the lad worries me at times, but he is only young.
Never wanted Phillips gone, yet again he proved useful,as he did last season,as long as he is happy where he is for now, don’t want to see him go.
Anyone else notice, their lad on the throw in picked up the towel from a massive puddle? Rory Delap, so much to answer for…
Happy enough with the game. Disjointed and boring, as expected. Neco and Morton looked good, plus the moment of brilliance from the ever mercurial Divock.
Sad to see the unironically, self-proclaimed “Carabao Kings” get dumped out so early.
Morning. As you apparently do not accept private messages, I shall put this here.
I request this of everyone who posts Paddy Power’s shite- please do not give them free advertising.
To cut a long story short, they expect their female shop staff to tolerate sexual harassment from customers.
Thanks.
Did not watch the match but seems like two very well taken goals by our backup strikers and very pleased to see that while they are warming the bench right now, they still look motivated to do well. Other than that, how did our rest of first team squad do i.e. Gomez…i saw him giving a ball away in a dangerous area almost leading to a goal…and Curtis and Ox and Matip, Adrian etc? Any youths stood out?
His positioning, anticipation and covering for his partners is also much better!
Ho dare you not make a long list!
Yep! he really impressed me with how he set up Minamino for our 1st goal. I even had a little ‘Oh! that’s similar to Salah’ moment.
I hadn’t realised Citeh were level with us on 8.
Going one ahead will be noice.
No, no, no- you’ve got it all wrong. This competition is meaningless and those eight trophies should be scrubbed off the Champions Wall.
I’ll scrub you off the Champions Wall in a minute!!
