Can see the desperation in the increasing distance from goal where those shots are taken from.

If you read my other post in the Soton thread you’ll say my biggest changes are in the forward line.

That and Tsimkas

It’s honestly INSANE how many football MIRACLES I’ve witnessed in my lifetime. It cannot be explained. I feel so blessed to have been born into this. People wait their whole lives for one night like this. We get 4 or 5 a season :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::muscle:t3::muscle:t3::muscle:t3::muscle:t3::partying_face::partying_face::partying_face::partying_face::partying_face:

Alisson was unbelievable tonight, I’ve read on here some think Kelleher is better but I’m sure they will admit after tonight they were wrong. 10 saves in the game and some outstanding.

Holy fuck.

If the first half was like the second half I might put it down to one those savvy Rafa away CL performances where we allowed the game to have that dynamic. Maybe similar to the 1-0 win in Munich in 19. But the first half was a ragged performance where we could do nothing right with the ball and were at breaking point defensively. Remember, Ibou could very reasonably have had his marching orders. That dynamic was because we were being put in a situation we didnt want to be in by an excellent performance from a very good opponent.

But you know what? We weathered it. Second half we didnt really improve very much with the ball, but as it wore on we looked increasingly comfortable dealing with their attacking threat. I wouldnt say comfortable over all because we were still very all over the place as soon as the game got into the middle third. We were lucky to still be level by the time we wrestled some degree of stability into the performance, but that’s what football at this level is. You are not going to have every game your way, or every period of every game, and when its not working for you all you can do is knuckle down and fight to stay in it and that is what we did. Seeing Trent mop up repeatedly at the back post warmed my heart in that regard.

It is a performance and result of the history books but mostly because we were so uncomfortable for such a long stretch and got the result regardless

Brilliant!

Just brilliant. When that goal went in I was screaming with my lad, jumping up and down with reckless abandon. What a moment.

Alisson. Best in the world. That display was the best I’ve ever seen. So good.

Nunez gave us a bit of an outlet when he came on. Well done that lad. Won the header. Won the loose ball. Got it under control and played a perfectly weighted pass for Elliott to hit first time, low to the corner. Superb.

PSG were very good. Better than I expected. They should have won. The tie is far from over and they will surely give it a good go at Anfield. Let’s show them what we’re made of.

So proud to be a red.

All of Slots substitutes had an impact tonight.

Trent played the full 90, much to my surprise, and defended well.
