Oliver the VAR, we know how it is, if you’re a Liverpool player being assaulted by the opposition you have to ask for it.
He really can’t be arsed with interviews
Game was good for neutrals.
We don’t like the games after the international break safe to say that
We’re going back to the St. Mary’s in 24 days for the League Cup. Hope we won’t make it as difficult as today.
Update:
They can now say they’re closer to City than we are!!!
The main thing is the three points. It would have been careless in the extreme to go into the Man City game and not be 8 points ahead. We had to capitalize on their bad form. Arsenal look like they are going to go on a good run too, so getting the win at Southampton was all important.
As for the game, it was more difficult than most expected. The ref wasn’t terrible but he gave them a few too many free kicks and he seemed to enjoy getting his yellow card out against our boys, when it wasn’t even remotely close to a dirty game.
It looked like the wind was blowing a gale, and swirling around too. Very hard to play your football in that. We also have form for being lackadaisical after the international break. I thought with an extra day we might play a bit better but it wasn’t to be.
After going 2-1 down in the second half, it was very impressive to see us dig deep and claim all three points. It is still early days, but doing that, as the cliche goes, is the hallmark of champions.
The penalty for them looked outside the box, but Robbo’s toe nail might have seen the outside edge of the line, and Oliver couldn’t wait to get his etch-a-sketch out to prove his case.
Mo Salah scored a couple and could easily have had his hat-trick. I hope we offer him a new deal as his level is still tip-top.
Southampton played through our midfield a bit too easily and we didn’t have the level of control I’d like to see. We could do with a Zubimendi or similar in there, although spreading the available game time will be a tricky conundrum for Slot to manage, but we need another midfielder.
Anyway, I digress. Three points. 8 clear of Man City. 9 clear of Arsenal.
Onwards and upwards.
8-point clear piece of piss.
I had a laugh when he took his shirt off because it was either a call to other clubs saying " look at the fucking state of me and my body". Or a little reminder to our club that he still has all the tools
Orrr… He just got caught up in the moment…
He knew @RedJedi was sitting right there actually
You’re still around?
I thought we were 8 points clear of shitty not piss? Haha
not the biggest take home, but hows that lad manage to run around for 90 minutes without shinpads on?
Ever present.
[quote=“mattyhurst, post:32, topic:4612, full:true”] The win is massive, it sort of means Man City can’t really turn up for a draw next week if they have aspirations of the title.

It’s going to fun to watch City go for it and try to get a win with the way their defence is right now. Unbelievably, they’ve conceded 17 PL goals already. That’s the same as Everton and Palace. There’s never been a better time to stick four or five past them.
But if we play like we did against Soton then we’ll be lucky to get anything. Now is the time when we should turn it on so we can stop saying ‘just wait until we start playing well’.
The thing is I could have predicted today’s performance but it’s the same as it always is.
The players will go up a level or 2 this week.
Not our greatest outing, albeit in appalling conditions, but the 3 points are there, and gives us a nice little gap from City!
If the stuffing around over Mo’s contract continues there are rocks in some heads.
He showed he sure as hell still has it, and to replace him would not please FSGs bank manager!
I mentioned it in game, it is health and safety and the rules that deems that a player has to wear shinguards, and I said the same with Grealish in the Cuty game.
If either player got an injury due to not wearing appropriate shinguards then the referee could be culpable for a claim.
our trent is similar, but at least they resemble something that looks like its trying to be a shingard…this lad had a bit of something at the bottom of his sock…could have been a sanitary pad to be honest…
needs to be looked at…if it catches on with kids, then the injuries could become an issue…
lead from the front PL…lead from the front.
