I’m always more inclined to see incompetence rather than corruption, but am I expected to believe that England is so incompetent that he simply wasn’t watching the game he was officiating?

Are PGMOL seriously going with this? That VAR did not notice the goal being given offside, and then in the 35seconds between that and the restart were unable to communicate the correct decision to the referee?

Klopp should ask these exact questions at next press conference

The only silver lining I can think of would be that the players probably wouldn’t be thinking that. If there’s anything to add passion to them, I think this match would have been it. Just the sheer injustice would surely push them to fight even harder than ever.

The other thing is, there wouldn’t be nearly as much hue and cry about this had we drawn.

It sounds as if Jotas first yellow was due to the foul he’d committed a few seconds prior, that could well have been a yellow. Totting up type situation on the first one yellow therefore.

Understood but the first one was a clumsy falling over! Not even a foul therefore cannot be a yellow.

I should point out that other than the dumb celebrating and that snide cunt Maddison (see my comment about him before the match, he has taken the Kane mantle) the Spurs weren’t dirty or anything. The stuff they got away with are standard fouls that should have been called (Gomez penalty and VVD penalty) but didn’t and so they got emboldened by their falling over to get calls (Porro et all).

This is squarely on the officials and PGMOL and the PL

Yeah it’s not as if it happens every other game, it tends to happen EVERY game these days. Incompetence or corruption?

That’s why I don’t watch PL games unless it’s us. There’s no joy to be had with it, whereas I can watch a Bundesliga game involving two teams I’m not invested with and still enjoy the match.

I think there is a lot of incompetence because you can see English refs in European and international matches and they make a hash of it there. However, it does look more like corruption at PL games because there is no way anyone can be that useless at their jobs?
