For clarity
No need to take a while. If you’re not claiming there’s a conspiracy, which is exacy what I said then we are in agreement.
That’s unfortunately flawed because you’re assuming that we could not have been better than we currently are. As a team we’re relatively “well-behaved” overall in terms of our strengths being the ability to take the ball away without having too much physical contact, just because of good positioning/timing. We’ve also been dominating much of the game across the continent, even just statistically. There’s only so much that a hypothetical conspiracy can do without being too blatant.
Wow I guess that just completely invalidates facts then, the uneducated opinions obviously matter more.
In all seriousness, I don’t think there is any conspiracy whatsoever. There are patterns of terrible refereeing which we more often than not seem to be on the receiving end of the wrong decisions, and these happen to occur more with certain referees and teams. Does this have to be a conspiracy? All it takes is a bias, and as @Kopstar has pointed out, Tierney doesn’t just seem to have a problem with us, but also Everton. And yet somehow City and United seem to get away lightly on his overall record…
VAR can and would intervene in an analogous situation though as the failure in the scenario you described was one that is objectively disprovable with the video. That IS what VAR is there for. The problem in football is there are far more subjective calls than in pretty much any other sport and you will always have differences of opinions on those things. I guarantee you that if we changed VAR to a more nebulous “common sense” approach, where it is used to raise subjective disagreements that the ref goes to the monitor “for another look” there would be uproar about the number of stoppages.
Yes, there is some thought thatr Robbo’s actions were a bit of retaliation for what had come immediately prior. Unfortunately that is often punished harder, especially as those actions come when the ref has completely missed hte first incident.
There was actually an incident in the first half where Trent reacted to one being left on him (by Dele I think) and our commentators were eagerly awaiting a VAR review on that. It all comes down to the fact that the ref set the tone for Spurs to be allowed to launch themselves into tackles in ways that are actually still fouls even if they win the ball, but allowed them to get away with it even when they didnt win the ball.
PGMOL seem to agree with Klopp for is comments on the ref as they have not punished him today?
Not PGMOL, the FA.
Sorry the FA
You’re cherry picking the worst decisions against us over the past decade and using as evidence of corruption. It’s not. Fans from any club could do the same.
Tierney’s performance at the weekend was one of the worst I’ve ever seen and maybe evidence of personal bias against us or Klopp. And yes Webb showed personal bias (or fear of Fergie) when reffing United. But neither in TIA or here has anyone presented evidence of systemic bias or corruption
I think with all the pundits, ref’s, and players all agreeing that Kane’s foul was a red and Jota’s heave ho was a pen…they have now way to wriggle out of the evidence…think they’re trying to diffuse the cock ups…and hope it blows over…
Anyone who says they don’t believe there’s a conspiracy against us is in on it.
I can’t prove bias or corruption exists. You can’t prove it doesn’t. I’m not arsed about burden of proof, it’s my opinion and yours is different.
Ah shit you’ve found me.
Do you know what? I know it’s controversial, but I’d happily take missing out on a fifth consecutive fair play league title for a decent crack at the premier league.
I’m still astounded at how you remember this stuff. I barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning.
I think it’s quite simple. When the same officials are doing you over year after year you tend to remember their previous.
Yeah you’ve mentioned it before. I guess I just don’t pay enough attention who they are. I just tend to throw them all in the same category titled. Utterly useless.
That’s not too bad I can not remember if I had breakfast and if I did I would have had it less than half an hour ago.
If it wasn’t printed in big letters at the top of this page I wouldn’t even remember who we played last time out.
Back on subjet this Spuds side are becoming very aggressive and nasty unlike them except Kane and Dele. That they are getting away with it seems to support the bias theories if you ask me. Then I’ve always believed them anyway as I’m a normal supporter of this club.
