Post Match: Villa v Liverpool (EPL 19/2/25 7.30pm)

Last season Arsenal spent nearly the whole season on top of the league and city pipped them to title near the end, I don’t want that to be us this season.

Anyone else vibing on us being on level points with the Arse when they visit Anfield, only for us to smash them 4-0?

Nah, me neither.

Their defender recovered pretty well and Nunez was beyond the post, not the same pass and positioning as Mo’s goal from Jota’s pass and not as easy finish as he was at full speed.

But, yes Nunez should have done better.

Looking at it again I can’t believe Dom passed that.

I think that’s extremely generous to Darwin.

The question now that we got 5 points out of 9 vs Everton, Wolves and Villa (I was hoping for 7-9), is, will we get 6 out of 6 vs City and Newcastle?
If we get 4 (which would be considered solid), and in the same time Arsenal win their 3, and get 9, it will be a 3 point gap, at which point, it’s in their hands as much as it is in ours, given we will still have to play each other.

Nunez can’t hit 3 barn doors next to one another. He will blaze one over or hit the side of the door frame with hand on his head. how he finished his chances against us with aplomb when he played for Benfica is beyond me - must be his body double   Compared to Nunez Chelsea’s Jackson look like Shearer and Jackson is one of the worst finishers.

City thrashed Newcastle the weekend and then got thrashed by real tonight, it’s hard to know what will happen.

A draw will be fine

That would be 6 points dropped in 4 games. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

No problem

4 draws I am disappointed with - NewCastle, United, and Everton - the most, Villa today.

Said before this run of games I’d be very surprised if the lead wasn’t cut by a good few points. A few people were living in cloud-cuckoo land and thought we’d steamroller everyone and maintain the gap.
Reality was we had 3 away games where we took 2 points last season from the corresponding games. We have a hard game against Newcastle next week while in the same period Arsenal will have played Leicester, West Ham and Forest. I fully expect Arsenal to win easily at the weekend and think they’ll take at least a point against Forest. I don’t see us beating City and unless we tighten up at the back and stop spewing chances we’ll struggle to beat Newcastle too. There’s a real danger in a week’s time we’ll only lead by 3 or 4 points having played an extra game.
It’s not bed-wetting, it’s being realistic. We’re leaking goals, missing chances to kill teams off and the same players are being run into the ground.
On the plus side as of now we are 8 points clear and regardless of what happens in the next week we’ll have got some of our most difficult aways out of the way and will have 6 of our last 10 games at Anfield.
People keep saying Arsenal are going to drop points in 3 or 4 games and logic suggests they will but I’d like it to happen asap because my arse will be twitching like a rabbit’s nose before too long.

Just a reminder that we haven’t lost a game in the PL since September

A completely dissatisfying draw.

People have got too used to us and City going huge swathes of seasons winning every game and normalising 90+ point seasons.

Look at the teams Arsenal have dropped points to this season. Villa, Brighton, Everton, Fulham, Chelsea, Newcastle, Bournemouth. Not to mention a cup exit to United.

You look at that list and you’d predict them to beat all those teams, at worst maybe the odd draw. And yet some people are acting like Arsenal are going to just win game after game after game. Reality is they won’t but predicting where they’ll drop points perhaps isn’t as obvious as people think.

A point away at Villa isn’t a terrible result. In fact, it’s exactly what Arsenal got in their recent game against Villa too. We just all need to get comfortable with the fact this points difference will ebb and flow week to week but we’re not up against a City juggernaut who are about to go on and win 13 of 13.

We only lost one in the whole of the 2018-19 season.

It’s the draws that kill you.

Well then Arsenal are dead because they’ve one more of them than us.

This isn’t 2019 though. No one is getting 98 points
