Post Match: Villa v Liverpool (EPL 19/2/25 7.30pm)

On Sunday we will have to score early like Real did and don’t forget they lost Stone and maybe Dias. Slot will have to make them practice their shooting so that we don’t waste any goal scoring opportunity…

We are not really clicking right now but we still have enough about us to keep points ticking over. City just got thumped away tonight, they’ll be both down and knackered. Let’s see how it goes.

What happened to Dias?

We will both be ‘the wounded animal’ …so let’s get at em early…

Worth scanning Arsenal’s fixtures for the next six. Fairly tough set of games. Lets see if they can overhaul us.

He was kicked and hobbled a bit out of the stadium and Gvardiol was shite tonight as well but watch out for Marmoush and perhaps Haaland.

City are shite. We’re gonna smash them. 4 points from these two games is good enough :+1:

I’d add to this good post, that there are 19 teams in this league who aren’t eight points clear at the top of the fucking league, and every single one of them would change places with us in a heart beat. They’d take our position and they’d take our squad.

Some of you don’t deserve a title challenge. If you can’t enjoy this, then you will never enjoy football.

That’s not to say there aren’t issues to solve. We’ve become very cautious on the ball, and reluctant to go and find the extra goal. The defence needs to find the solidity it had before Christmas. And Slot needs to find a way to make better use of players he chose to retain - like Chiesa, Elliot, Endo and Tsimikas.

But aside from that, football is never going to be better than having being in the box seat with a dozen games to play. If you feel compelled to post how we’re going to blow it, how we’re going to fall away, and what we could have done, should have done in the summer, stop being a fucking coward and embrace this. It’s better than being any other team in the league.

Those moaning at squad size Arsenal have used roughly the same 14 players all season hmmm.

Can’t speak for others, but I’m loving this season. It is a lot of fun.

But that’s not to say one can’t feel some concern over the form of the past several matches.

I remember Arsenal cut lead to 4 points a few months ago when we drew with Forest. The following weekend we beat Brentford and Arsenal drew 2 all with guess who Villa after been 2 up and lead was back to 6.

There is a difference in concern to reveling in it to prove a non existent point.

Keith Hackett who i consider one of the best refs we’ve had says Villa shouhave had red for strike on Mac.

It’s giving me indigestion…and heart palpitations…

It’s a lot, lot worse than what I saw some fans suggesting Van Dijk should have got a red for against Spurs. That to me looked like shielding the ball, perhaps a tad aggressive but not really worth a card.

This was a very deliberate and aggressive swing. It looked a lot like a punch to me, and one Mac clearly felt.

I’ve never really understood the obsession our fanbase has had for Darwin, he’s never looked good enough for Liverpool and IMO history will view him alongside Carroll as our worst ever Premier League signing.

The biggest concern for me is how weak we look at the back, two clean sheets in the last nine is not title winning defense. We apparently have the best keeper, two of the three best CBs and yet we can’t defend a lead. Every time a team attacks, we look likely to concede.

We have gone from an ultra mean defence in the beginning of the season, to whatever this is at the moment (over several games now). Team is basically the same.

Just remember they play like a million Non-Spurs London Derbies a season and those games can throw up some interesting results. Laugh at me all you want but I could even see a shock draw this weekend against WHU, as bad as they are.

There are plenty of opportunities for the pressure to be relieved by Arsenal. They aren’t exactly the same competition as the financially jacked team we had to fight in the past.

Without question we can’t rely on them dropping points, and we need to do our own thing, but as Dracula said, I just don’t see a team like Arsenal going through the final stretch of the season unbeaten.
