This is going to be a very, very tough game. Taking a shaky team into a cauldron of a stadium in Istanbul is far from ideal. On sheer talent, LFC should be able to get past Galatasaray, but it won’t take much to rattle this side if we have the same indifferent start we have had of late.
Has Fede been sneaking off to Holland to engage in a menage a trois with mother and daughter? Or is Arne mourning a beloved cat/guinea pig/stick insect and Fede laughed at the wrong moment?
I don’t understand why Slot is doing this. Leaving Chiesa at home will only cause further unrest and dissatisfaction among the fans. After the disastrous last game, Chiesa was at least a small ray of hope. Aside from the fact that he doesn’t have to use him, and it should also be about team cohesion, he simply leaves him at home. Incomprehensible.
In my opinion, it’s a bad man management, and it only causes unnecessary speculation and unrest among the media and fans. We already have enough negative headlines atm.
I’m sure a plausible reason will come out? Perhaps Turkish authorities worry that he is sufficiently popular that he poses a threat to Erdogan and they have (quietly) asked the club to omit him for fear of causing revolution?
Or is there some clause in his contract where we are supposed to pay something to Juve after a certain number of appearances.
It’s really getting to a point where people will be scratching their heads… currently he is our best attacker in G/A per minute this season.
Really gutted we let Harvey go…we seem really light in attack and considering how he is being treated by Emery , he should call him back.
The fact that Chiesa hasn’t traveled is weird considering Slot could bring 23 players and now bring only 21. It’s not a selection issue it’s an omission issue at this point.
As others have pointed out, Slot could have brought him along and kept him on the bench and everyone would have been happy. Now he creates a narrative for fans and media. It’s an unnecessary distraction. Lets see what Slot says later this evening.
Looking forward to an explanation. Is he off in January and we owe Juve a fee if he plays a European game? I’d understand that, and hope it is something like that.
I hope the reason is he just is nailed on to start against chelsea and none of the other ones. But what @Livvy said.. why not just let him travel and not use him? Really hope there’s a good explanation from Slot on this.
There has to be a reason. Even if Slot doesn’t like Chiesa, he wouldn’t be omitting him without cause.
I suppose that there may be fitness concerns with him playing twice in 3 days; It could also be why he wasn’t included in the CL list from the beginning.
No one cares about the atmosphere especially when we are about 700 miles away watching on tv (which I won’t be as I am not wasting my one last Amazon free trial on this).
Maybe that he can’t play 3 games in a week having played full 90 as well against Southampton
He was injured in the end of pre season as well. - someone on X
