Probably for the best otherwise you’d be broke.

Can’t see Joe Gomez starting 3 games in a row, unless we want him to be out for a few weeks. He has been solid. Helps with the defence, especially at set piece defending, and keeps things simple in attack.

The way Slot has been playing the inverted full backs, I’ve been shouting out for Joe to start weeks ago. But it’s all about fitness for him.

Having said that, against Sunderland, Slot seemed to try something different, with Robertson and Gomez actually staying wide (at least in the first half), and Gakpo and Dom being more narrow than usual.

We are struggling to score, and usually give a goal at the first decent attempt we allow. So it’s imperative to get the first goal.

Also, players running on gas in the final 10 minutes need to be subbed. Opposition managers inject new players toward the end to exploit the tired legs. Need to put more trust in squad players for the final few minutes.

I think you’re projecting that on to him.

What he said was Mo is an exceptional player (which he’d say about any of them) and he is always in his thoughts (which he’d also say for any player).

He was about as ambivalent on Mo’s place in the team as I think it’s possible for a manager to be.

Yeah I don’t see nothing weird with Slot’s quotes on Salah.

Plus, we are well aware that press conferences and public interviews are not private 1v1 talks, aren’t we?

I must admit I haven’t seen the presser, if they are very much in the bland ‘hes great’ then thats hopefully a sign that he’s not going to give Mo much game time against Leeds.

But that’s already shown?
He has to fight for his place. Everyone does.

To be honest the level of disrespect for an absolute legend is beyond disgusting.

Looks like Frimpong is back in (outside) training at least in some capacity.

Great news if we can limit down injuries to Leoni’s, at least for the coming period.

Frimpong is back. Mafaking has been relieved.

I disagree with the level of your negativity, but that’s a good team you posted, and I’d be happy if that’s what we did.

I’m very much hoping for a Liverpool win, as all reds should be.

We have been poor for a good while now, but maybe the last two games - a win and a draw, with just one goal conceded - was a little step on the road to recovery?

It was certainly better than conceding three each game and falling apart, as we had been doing. Still, we all know we have a long way to go to get to where we need to be.

Hopefully three points here will be just the ticket, as we try to play our way towards better days.

We will win 5-4 and if we do, I will win $3000 on the $30 bet I rarely do. If that happens, I will put 10% one off contribution to this forum!

All good, we all have things we disagree on. One of mine is the negativity of our football.

Peace to you my friend.

I agree, the football has been stale, slow, and all the rest of it. I think we both see that.

Hopefully we find a little foothold to turn this around.

I’m actually encouraged by the last two games.

We need to work on specific elements to improve our game not everything at once… and then work back up the table. Hoping for quick results with so much chaos and confusion is not going to get us anywhere.

Everything points to a leeds win but at some point this manager must to be able to stop the rot, i seen that we are now one of the worst defending champions, was winning it last season a fluke,
Today away from home to a very attacking team he will persist with 3 up front and we cant get the ball up to them, today should be 442 and play as a team not individuals. Im going for a 2-2 draw.

And I will eat my hat.

For this game I’d have one of Wirtz or Szoboszlai on the bench.

My reasoning is two fold:

  1. They need a breather to keep them fresh for the next set of games
  2. Playing with both leaves us too open - unless one stays very disciplined

Basically we have to be pragmatic. Keep it tight, don’t act entitled, and keep the game long enough that one of the forwards can nick a goal… (cannot believe that is my mindset, and we’re playing Leeds, not Barca with Messi or Milan of the late 80s early 90s…)
