You need to take a huge amount of humble out of your opinion. If Firmino starts over Jota, I’m starting a go fund me for the largest dildo, some ky jelly and Jurgen’s location.

Look forward to a lot of angry posts when Bobby starts tonight over Jota, followed by a lot of excitement when Jota gets a brace in the last half an hour. Will be a bit like the Arsenal threads.

He will 100% start, and also be captain.

Jota done press conference so he’s starting.

Jota scored more in half an hour against Arsenal than Firmino has scored in 3 and a half months.

Other than fitness there is surely no good reason for him to be on the bench. No need to be clever, pick your best players. Against Madrid’s makeshift back 4 we should fancy ourselves to create chances, and there’s no better player than Jota to put them away.

A sudden hush seemed to have fallen on the garden of the Lowton household. It was as though it and everything in it had been stunned into silence. Birds stopped chirping. Butterflies froze in mid-flutter. Wasps wading in strawberry jam paused motionless, as if they were having their photographs taken. And the general paralysis extended to Boudica. It was an appreciable time before she spoke. When she did, it was in the hoarse voice of a woman unable to believe that she has heard correctly.

“You mean to say that @GermanRed has initiated another match thread”, she rasped, her deportment rather like that of a young Hindu fakir lying for the first time on the traditional bed of spikes.

My manner, by way of contrast, was that of a patient governess explaining a problem in elementary arithmetic to a child who through no fault of Its own had been dropped on the head when a baby.

“He has indeed”. I went on to further intimate that it was an unsurprising act, given that although he was indeed a cad, and a Teutonic one to boot, he had, in the past, enjoyed a modicum of success in that particular field off enterprise.

Boudica relaxed somewhat. Her opinion of the man had in no way altered, she still considered him a menace to one and all and his presence an offence to the pure air of The Anfield Noise, but she was fair enough to admit that, however black his character might be, and however much she disliked him, he knew all the answers to the pre match thread on an European night.

“But shouldn’t we attempt something to deter him?” she said, reaching for her matched pair of antique, pearl handled Damascus steel gelding shears.

Are you familiar with the poem “Excelsior” I asked?’

“I read it as a child” said the Mem, with a little shiver of distaste. She does not admire Longfellow.

“Then you will recall what the old man said to the fellow with the banner with the strange device. ‘Try not the pass,’ he said. ‘Dark lowers the tempest overhead.’ That is what an old - or rather, elderly but surprisingly well-preserved man is saying to you now.”

She drew a deep breath. Whether it was right of her to have called @GermanRed a fat old sharper whose word she would never again believe, even if given on a stack of Bibles, was open to debate, but she felt considerably better when she had done so, and it was with the feeling of having fought the good fight that several minutes later she resumed her task of eviscerating the nights apportionment of assorted wildlife.

And so, without further ado, the epilogue:

This game has all the makings of a potential banana skin! (well someone had to say it)

I’ll take a scrappy 1-0 win to us. :astonished:

The Mem is a scary individual that you should never cross and we’re gonna win 0-1.

Oh, and she doesn’t like @GermanRed

And she’s good with a knife.

Very much appreciate seeing you on the regular Lowton roadside litter picks but you know you’re not supposed to juggle with the used needles don’t you? The effects can be mind altering…

Given that (despite injuries) this is actually a credible football team and the importance of away goals, something like 2-2 would be a cracking result. However I’d like us to go one step further, our defence to be resolute and Jota to have an absolute worldie. 0-3 please and a nice easy return leg. But whatever the result, we know we can overturn it at home
Come on Liverpool!

Keita starts ahead of Thiago. Jota in for Bobby.

Diogo Jota starts as Liverpool make three changes in Madrid. Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita also come into the XI, with Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner named on the bench.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Jota.

Subs: Adrian, H. Davies, Thiago, Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, B. Davies, R. Williams, Cain.

Get it done reds!

It’s a very progressive lineup. I wonder why Klopp decided to drop Thiago, he should have been specially good in European games.

OK Reds, raise hell.
