Pre Match Thread : Liverpool vs Leeds United 12/09/2020; 17:30 BST

@gt_sounder Bielsa isn’t much of a schemer though is he. At most he might get the marking off to a T however in the general scheme of things he’s one of those coaches who sticks to a tactic his main force is demanding and getting commitement from the players he also expects the club to support him. We should know what to expect from his team particularly as there’s no question which team is better, this is where he excells getting the best out of what he’s got against better sides win or lose. He has his fans and after seeing what he did at Marseille I am one he just seems to revel in that underdog stature.

@Neukölln I think this post goes for you and your Football Ramble podcast chaps. The surprise will just be the effort Leeds will make or not depending on the committement they give Bielsa tactically he’s been there well long enough for them to know what to do.

yeah the gaffer said they are an epl team and gonna be tugh. they just came up and gonna wanna stake a claim, that means we gonna have so much fast breaks on them. back 5 in for a hard day i’m guessing. but essentially they are a championship team still, so lets crush these bastards. #upthereds :eggplant:

If the team start slow, we might be in for tough.
I think we are gonna win 3-1

Don’t we all get an eggplant when we think of Liverpool?

Of course ! So would I were I neutral  It is a better tale after all, the newly promoted beating the champion. For once I want to batter the underdog !

“We all hate Leeds and Leeds and Leeds
Leeds and Leeds and Leeds
We all fu**ing hate Leeeds!”

Ah, they don’t make 'em like that anymore. Thankfully.

The team picks itself except for the midfield. Is it Team Gini or Naby Baby? If I were the manager then I wouldn’t pick Gini unless the player had committed himself to LFC for this season. If he’s still dithering, or if he wants to leave, then bench him. If it’s no Gini then it’s Fab, Hendo and Keita for me. If he has committed himself to us and has no wish to leave, then it’s Gini in place of Keita. And if he impersonates the Invisible Man again then haul him off after an hour.

Why do you, a Frenchman, call it an eggplant? Maybe you should be reported to the French Language Police.

We gonna win 9-3.

Or not

That’s what it displayed when I hovered my pointer at it. Of course in France it’s an ‘aubergine’ I just reckoned Darrel would find it easier in english. As long as noone ‘se porte plaint’ against me I should get away with it. :innocent:

Maybe you don’t know, but the British English for this uses the French word. I’ve no idea why it’s eggplant in American English.

Anyway, … Leeds … what bunch of turnips.

I am getting used to using my ‘mobile’ portable phone (android) with this forum and I am pleased with my technological leap. Away this will mean that whilst watching the match I will be keeping up with the nonsense (well trying to) that you post during the match. Takes me ages to write something on the damn thing but I might get a few interjections in during play. Just to say take care what you send as I’m ready to pounce.

Genuinely looking forward to seeing Leeds in the PL — they haven’t been since I started following in 2007. Bielsa is class and I love their work rate — he has them well-drilled. That said, I think we should have enough for the 3 points if we play anywhere near our normal level. A bit of an “if” given post-lockdown form, but last year’s preseason was a misnomer, and we had already sewed up the League after the second post-lockdown game. Even accounting for our form post-February, there have been a number of mitigating circumstances — injuries to Hendo and Alisson at different times, particularly — so I am optimistic given the fresh start we will come out of the traps at a good clip.

Matchday finally

Feeling super confident that some of the pundits and experts who were underestimating us for this season are going to have a rude awakening, starting today. Let’s do it lads!

It’s got to be naby no? In the last 10 games including before pre season he has been immense whenever he has played. I think he has earned a starting place in hendos absence.

I hope Salah is back from vacation, he had an extended one. :sunglasses:

They have doing that for the past 2 years, glad they do it again.

Fabinho is going to have to wake up. He has been dreadful pre season. Also we need our front 3 to be on song from the start. Mane is the only one who has looked ready so far but hopefully a return to PL football is the stimulation they need.
Like all PL games , this is a “must win”
Hope Hendo is fit. If so he must surely start.
