PreMatch | Brentford vs Liverpool | PL Matchday 22 | Saturday January 18th 15:00h

They’re all just storylines. Don’t get ensnared. But I can recommend a list of posters so you can narrow your reading selection.

Must win, 4points dropped last two games and arsenal breathing down our necks, also they buying reinforcements while we do nothing to strengthen and hope for the best.

Maybe we are not either that’s why we only play good for 45 minutes.

Sky sports reported they have agreed a deal for Zubimendi.

Who did Arsenal sign?

I see above response.
Zubimendi?
Amother midfielder to compete with Rice, Jorginho and Partey.

For the summer.

Yeah they are getting him in the summer.

That’s quite kind of you. @mattyhurst I produce the finest tee ball content TAN has ever seen. Oh and I can occasionally be quite the prophet. Kind of a big deal.

I wonder if Kelleher is now the better choice keeper. Allison has let in some goals recently that I feel Kelleher would probably have got to. Allison looks fallible and no longer playing like “the best in the world”.

Wow - didn’t expect that answer. :astonished:

That means Ali must really have slipped, and/or Kelleher has gone up in your estimation.

A bit of both?

I was being a little facetious, Alisson is still clearly the better goalkeeper but yeah a bit of both, Alisson doesn’t seem to be the same goalkeeper recently just seems a little slow and not reacting well to shots. Statistically Kelleher was doing better than Alisson.

I don’t think Alisson is bad now or anything he just seems to not be at his commanding best. Hasn’t really made a big save recently. Kelleher is generally a pretty good shot-stopper.

My fear with Alisson is that this isn’t a dip in form but might be a physical drop-off. My biggest concern is that he looks slow. He’s still got great positioning but he had cat-like reflexes and I wonder if these muscle injuries have taken a few % of his physical ability to change direction.

We have Mamardashvili coming in next season and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is both Alisson and Kelleher’s last season here.

He did make a pretty decent save against Man Utd. We’ve actually been in this situation before where teams had one shot and it went in. Was a season when Klopp was in charge.

First off, Matty… if you need to cut down on the inter web a bit, and just keep the essentials, remember that TAN is one of the essentials!

As for goalie’s, I see a slight dip in Alisson since his last injury. I would still give him the nod over Kelleher, but the gap has closed. I think when Mamardashvili comes in he will be the number one, and to facilitate the clarity of that, I believe Alisson will be sold.

Since we made a decision on Kelleher by signing Mamardashvili i.e. the assumption that Kelleher would take over from Alisson is no longer right, that sort of leaves him lingering in never never land as an eternal number 2 keeper. So all in all I do think there is credence that both will be sold in summer.

Next season it might well be Mamardashvili, Jaros as number 2, and whoever the best up and comer is to be number three.

Oh yeah, the Brentford game…

I’m not willing to use the phrase “must win” when we will still be top if we lose, and there is still almost half a season left to play.

However, after a blip where we have won three and drawn four, taking 13 from 21 league points, it is time to get back to winning games.

Brentford are a solid Prem level team with an excellent home record, so it won’t be easy. But I do think they will have a go, and won’t just sit back and defend in numbers, and to the degree we actually get a game of footy where the opposition tries to come at us, I think that will help us.

Any win, no injuries, and let’s put a little run together from here.

Robbo should be rested. He is past the stage where he can do two games a week at the level we need. There are question marks over Trent defensively too, so I don’t just want to single Robbo out.

Darwin Nunez should be back on the bench. Not sure between Gakpo or Diaz, and also not sure between Szobo and Jones - I am assuming Grav and Mac both start.

Keeping a clean sheet away from home nah. I think 2-2.
