Your new nickname
Even if it is one inch of snow, my family are notorious for staying indoors as if there is a full blown blizzard outside.. They stock up for a month!
Ideal to stay home, tuck in and watch Band of Brothers in Bastogne.
I know and it you donât have the correct behaviour in traffic, lack winter tires because itâs not mandatory and so on. I know, intellectually that this is so, itâs just so strange that there is never any development and that this almost happens every year that you have days of chaos but never improve (too few days of chaos, I get that, but still).
Anyway, apologies for derailing. Itâs just a bit funny, because in Norway we think of you as âpretty much the same as us, just more formal and more uptightâ, but during winter you are not !
Whereâs Cootey when you need some clean-up done?
Calm down SD, it rarely snows in most of the UK, in fact thereâs hardly ever frost. As the climate warms it will be even rarer. Should scarce resources be spent on something that is so uncommon? Or should we continue the tradition of everyone freaking out once a year when thereâs 2mm of snow?
People love a bit of drama and itâs more fun than changing your tyres twice a year.
To be fair, the same arguments were being made about hospital capacity pre-COVID. If the AMOC were to shut down however, itâs RIP to the country (although to be fair, the same applies for pretty much most of the world).
Anyway, back to the game. I just want 3 points, a clean sheet, and no injuries.
However we get them doesnât matter. It could be a 6-0 win with Salah and NĂșñez each getting a hat-trick of goals and assists, a 1-0 win with Gomez somehow scoring from wherever he is, or 12-0 wipeout of them featuring a Arne masterclass and Salah just completely wrecking them. Momentum is important, and we must keep our winning momentum, while securing their losing momentum.
EDIT: AMOC not AMSO
From the Caf, kudos here even to a Manc, pretty good:
snow tyres are a conspiracy, pushed by big rubber.
Also the media loves to dramatise the slightest bit of snow or wind.
Anyway, letâs bring down a footballing storm on these fuckers
Stick it on the UK politics thead so we have something to bitch about following a flawless display from Slot and the boys.
SD or Sneering Dick is the new one, I see !
Seriously though, I think you may be incorrect regarding the even rarer. We are fairly north on the hemisphere (yes, you English too!) and then global warming will make summers hotter, spring warmer; but winter wilder. There will be more storms, more rough weather. Our weather in Norway, is significantly rougher now than 30 years ago. The weather shifts are more violent. They have always been violent up here, but the violence of the weather comes more often than it used to and it is very noticable. I donât think England is far enough south to not notice similar patterns. So yes, global warming may lead to perhaps more âsnow daysâ in England, I suspect (at least more wind). I am not saying that it will be really cold, but more unpredictable weather patterns.
Have you heard of the game whereâ Wally/Waldo we can have our own variation of it during the game if its going well we can play whereâs Walshy07.
What weâre starting to see in the UK is more flooding, rainfall and storm events. Snow is increasing rare.
Neville throwing snow back onto the pitch.
Fair enough, I may be totally wrong regarding more snow days. But yes, more unpredictable weather and more violent weather, will at least be the new norm.
I hope they have the same attitude as Neville.
