I remember the London Underground stopping due to snow! Now that a country in trouble.
I think of âLife in a Northern Townâ instantlyâŠ
Dream academy. Showing your age!!
Here in Norway, the Winter of 2023-2024, was strangely enough the coldest since 2012-2013.
Winter is generally colder here now, in the 90s, it was much milder.
Last year, the winter was 1.6 degrees celsius colder than the norm.
The very coldest we have measured with instruments is in 1886 though, with -51 in Karasjok in Finmark (but that is up in the polar north and relatively few live there).
But I live at the coast so here the climate is milder due to the âwarmthâ from the North Sea (The Gulf Stream). We donât really get -20 here. On the most extreme days, itâs around -18, but even that is very rare. However, if you combine -10 with a stiff breeze, then that is around -20 degree celsius in real effect, and we often get that.
I have a cool index here btw, only understandable to sailors and seamen. However, it stops at Liten Storm (small storm), sĂ„ âStor Stormâ and" Hurricane" are off these charts unfortunately.
Red is of course: âDo not venture outsideâ.
A fair bit is above ground though.
Like most things it was designed with a certain temperature in mind, over time weâve had less snow so stuff has been scrapped while a lot of our infrastructure isnât set for the new norm. Hence why buildings are still built without consideration for silly temperatures. Also building houses on flood plains
Everywhere I went in Brazil seemed to have air con (of course Iâm a white tourist so I know this isnât totally the norm).
In fairness some of the underground is overground and surprisingly wombling free
I think most of it is overground than underground.
Secrets of the London Underground sort of told me that. To be fair for a complete mismatch of a network it runs far better than it should.
Amusingly, I always read that name as LazarusRed, and only realized after the unexpected reappearance that it isnt.
Anyway, carry onâŠ
We all rise from the ashesâŠâŠ
Mo doing everything himselfâŠwants groundsmans wage as well
Itâs pissing down now apparently.
Still some snow piled up behind them (assume itâs due to the stand) but the ground looks nice and green.
Had a little nap after lunch.
Now I see Rooney and Ralph Hasenhuttl in that video.
Great to see them employed somewhere.
Red
The only word relating to the match
Found Wayne RooneyâŠ
Double that size.
Any prospect of it letting up during the match? Canât help but think the conditions will act as something of a leveller. An early goal to take control would be most welcome
Doesnât look like it from the Apps. Iâm in Cornwall Iâm just going from the punditry.
Sure, but what am I supposed to say really ? We are all sitting here waiting for it, looking forward to it and itâs not canceled. I donât get the antipathy just because I posted some trivia. Some post pictures of snowmen, some AI pictures of Salah showing snow without cloathes, some talk nonsense, some about the rain, I post about winter temperate . So why pick on my post and not the others ? There is literally almost nothing about football having been posted in this thread for several hours.
