So Lavia is now going to Chelsea because the guy who took him to City and then to Southampton is now working for Chelsea. So what happens next ?
Sangare ? Ubimenxi ? the list of possibles is getting shorter , I hope we move quickly and stop messing about. I still think we could have signed Lavia a few weeks ago . Did we royally mess up or did we not want him bad enough. Looks like what we need but who knows what goes on behind ghe scenes.

He’s facing Romano isn’t he?

Okay, think this thread should be locked now. :lock:

No need to yale about it. Although in fairness I’m getting chubby sitting here reading zero rumours. I guess the key will be when we’re signing players like shooting fish in a barrel. I’ll get my coat and pad out. Off to tumbler.

Is this a poem?

If John Henry decides to speak out against corruption, with the goal of better financial controls in a rules based order, I hope that we as fans back it to the hilt, and I hope it catches on in the wider game.

He is swimming against the tide, and probably won’t prevail, but he is one of the most powerful men in football who still has the ability to throw a spanner in the works for a few dodgy teams, not to mention the authorities themselves.

If he fails, I expect a sale of LFC, and at that point, we can’t be sure who our new owners would be, and what the game might become. It might be a case of if you can’t beat them, join them, and that would surely accelerate the demise of the game.

Liverpool is the only big club that’s still playing by the rules and intends to continue to do so. If LP/FA refuses to take corrective measures, then the only remaining option would be to approach the parliament for that Independent Regulator. If FSG quits, it will be open season for the thieves and thugs.

Just looking at Transfermarket, Chelsea has a net spend over the past 4 years of well over £800M. And, that is only transfer fees. No telling what their salary numbers are.

How anyone thinks that the FA cares one whit about financial stability in the PL is a puzzle to me.

He signed us up to the Super League. He’s signed off on us just making a record British transfer bid. He’s worth $4bn and owns a $90m yacht.

Anything he says on the subject is going to come across as sour grapes from a billionaire who isn’t quite as rich or willing to chuck his money into the game as other billionaires.

My question would be, if Chelsea are able to afford to spend £900m in three windows and still be compliant, how come no other team has been able to do the same? How have Chelsea found a way to do this that no one at any of these other clubs has discovered and they’ve been able to do it immediately?

I think all we can hope for is that splurge of this kind has the Premier League and UEFA concerned and they’ll be keeping a close eye on it. But right now we need Henry focussed on getting us back on track and not worrying about Chelsea or City’s spending.

He signed up to being involved in discussions about what a Super League would look like, but he was by no means signed on to the deal that Real, Barca and Juve put forward. They massively jumped the gun on something that was just a preliminary discussion, which is why they found all their allied publicly abandoning them so quickly.

The plans as discussed were ugly, but it would have been a dereliction of duty to have not been part of the discussions that were happening with or without us.

I agree in general about the bigger point though. Going to the league is not necessarily wrong, but something that has to be managed very carefully for fear of coming off like we’re just off crying to our mum

Come on man, that’s not you.

I agree with you generally, and add that FSG’s bigger priority right now should be to figure out what’s happened to our once renowned sporting department. Losing Edwards. Losing Ward. Losing Graham. Can’t find a permanent replacement and bringing in Schmadtke on a short term teal. Schmadtke then brings absolutely nothing to the table over the last three months other than triggering two release clauses; wasn’t even involved in the Caicedo negotiation.

Our leadership - outside of Klopp - appears to be fractured.

I’m not sure how true this is but I heard he only spends two days a week in the UK. The remainder, he’s at his house in Ibiza.

but he does his own stunts.

We think it was LFC that set the part-time terms/status with this guy… For all anyone knows for certain, including Carragher, the guy had retired and was happy in doing so… Maybe Jurgen coaxed him back to lessen the load on his own shoulders… helping out, that’s what good mates would do for you - Maybe he is working his socks off in the interim, until FSG gets someone in

Yes, most likely the club had agreed the scope of his duties and spread anything else out to others such as Hogan. Until we know more about what has been asked of him, then I don’t see why he should be criticised so heavily.
