I rather like my linen shirts.
Press resistant. Such a new phrase. What the feck is it?
dont know what the problem is with Lavia only playing 29 EPL games,
Andy Carrol only had 42 EPL appearances and we still blew a shitload of cash on him,
I think that’s the issue right there.
Even if you remove the Torres inflation he was still vastly overpriced for a guy with half a good season in a limited side. I don’t know enough about Lavia but I remember being wary of the Carroll deal throughout the day.
Not sure if this guys youth, lack of game time and overall big game experience is what Jurgen will be looking for right now… Unless of course he is confident of getting the lad up to full speed by January 2025… because that is when we will be going all guns blazing for the CL :0)
Jurgen only has two more attempts at winning it with LFC has he not
It’s not the 29 PL games (he has actually played 34 games, 2490 mins, across all competitions), it’s that limited games coupled with the significant fee that’s causing the concerns. At £50m, you are likely to get a more rounded player even at this age of inflated fees.
I’ve always seen it to mean as someone who can break free from opposition press and thus doesn’t get caught in possession in dangerous areas.
A player who is capable of keeping possession when pressed/closed down by the opposition.
Its a new term perhaps but not a new concept. Xabi Alonso, for example, for extremely press resistant.
Means he refuses all journalist’s questions.
Easy enough to do when you’re sat in a room with the likes of James Pearce & Carl Markham.
A lot of inexperience and in the case of Thiago, unreliable. I don’t like going into the season with that group, especially if Lavia is #1 choice. I think we need a more experienced and proven player, #6 or otherwise.
Exactly why we should be cautious here!
The problem is at 50mil, there are probably at least options out there who had a few more years of top league experience and relatively young at the 21-24 range. Paying the asking prices for young players never put us off when we do not want to waste time, Darwin and Dominik are 2 best recent example. I think if we can get it down to the 30m range, he would be a great signing with a reasonable calculated risk in terms of value.
We seem to be the only team who are both regularly and strongly linked to him.
Might give us a stronger hand to negotiate. If Lavia wants out (back to Prem) and we’re a club that appeals to him then Southampton will struggle to reject a serious offer. Do they really want to “force” an unhappy player to stay until the January window / summer window? Do they really think his value will rise playing in the Championship?
We’ll likely deal at £30 plus some add ons on deadline day when Southampton have only one real bidder for a want away player.
£30M - done!
Sacha Tavolieri is a Belgium media personality, let’s see who reports is too before I’ll take it seriously.
While this lad appears to have drive and energy he is young and inexperienced at the level of Liverpool. At the moment if we lose Fab, I think we need someone in the 25 bracket. Just a few years under the his belt.
apologies hadn’t seen this tweet shared in the social media thread before I posted it
Florian Plettenberg with a very vague tweet this morning that implies some movement.

Although I was hoping we would go for someone a little more experienced if we lost both Fab and Henderson, I am at ease with this signing if it goes through.
We’ve played 2 preseason games with a traditional RB and Trent in the middle. Its absolutely not out of the question that Trent will be there in the middle as a true MF come the first game, though I would fully expect that to also mean us purchasing an experienced head for RB as that would be essential as we cannot rely on Bradley making the step up.
