Romeo Lavia (DM/CM) Southampton

“Liverpool news generates clicks”

Is probably as accurate.

Have you watched the friendlies as Macca is playing the most advanced midfield role and looks excellent playing those little through balls on the floor

Going off the results of the lactate test I imagine SzoboCop doing the box_box role would be the fit. Wonder if Jones has it in his locker to be a #6. Good opportunity for him here to learn to cover both positions.

Liverpool will step up their pursuit of Roméo Lavia by making a second bid for the midfielder that is nearer to Southampton’s £50 million asking price.

An offer of £34 million, plus £4 million in add-ons, was rejected last week by the Sky Bet Championship club, who are braced for another approach from Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Lavia has emerged as Klopp’s prime target to bolster his midfield options, with Fabinho set to follow Jordan Henderson in moving to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool have been reluctant to meet the £50 million threshold for the 19-year-old Belgium international and it remains to be seen whether a compromise can be reached with Southampton.

Lavia, who made 29 Premier League appearances last season, has also attracted attention from Chelsea as an alternative to their drawn-out pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moisés Caicedo. However, Lavia remains keen to join Liverpool, who have added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their squad in this window.

Klopp has utilised Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and the 18-year-old James McConnell in the No 6 role in pre-season, but needs another specialist, with Stefan Bajcetic, also 18, working his way back from injury.

One of the reasons why Liverpool were reluctant to meet Southampton’s price tag was because of the impact of Bajcetic, who is a year younger than Lavia, last season.

However, that stance has been changed by the interest in Fabinho from Al-Ittihad and the departure of Henderson for Al-Ettifaq. Klopp also stated that he would ideally want to sign a defender this summer, with Joël Matip entering the final year of his contract.

They’re just waiting for Fabinho to give the pen back.

I real think that they are waiting for the Fabinho deal to complete afraid that it falls true, well I hope that is the reason … :joy:

I think we’re trying to see how the cards fall into place wiith Mbappé to Madrid, hoping Touchameni or Valverde become available.

Along with “ready since last week” :joy:

I assume your joking but do you think there’s even a small chance?

None whatsoever.

That’s what I think. To be honest I wouldn’t want him. I love that we have a ‘coached’ team that wins things. We don’t win as much as City but it’s way more meaningful when we do.

There’s no way we’d be paying wages anywhere between 50 & 150 million euro to take a player on loan for 1 season
