FSG have succeeded in making Lavia signing look like MBappe and we are craving for this signing. Hope the lad fulfills his potential.

How much of that line up is their regular first team squad and how much of it youngsters they may be blooding from their academy?

It’s a completely changed starting XI and Lavia is only player who made the bench last week who was not involved.

There is a lot going on at Southampton with a new manager trying to figure out how to make a team out of a collection of kids, so while this doesnt have to mean anything negative about the way Lavia is conducting himself, it seems at least pretty clear that the manager doesnt expect him to be his player moving forward so doesnt want to allocate any time to him in a period where he’s essentially rebuilding a side.

Really not sure why teams throw cup games like that.

Southampton will likely be near the top and it’s not like they have competing priorities.

I agree in general, but for this new manager it’s probably just an opportunity to see another group of players.

There has been something called a pre season for that.

Tom Cruise is immortal.

50m quid is a bargain for a DM who will play infinity games.

The missteps have become more pronounced under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group and winning a little more difficult as a result. The **decision-making feels more fuzzy. The f**ailure to sign a midfielder last summer exacerbated current problems with Liverpool opting out of the race for Jude Bellingham before he had made a final decision on his future.

article behind paywall for those interested in reading it…Liverpool concerns: Defensive frailties and lack of transfer signings

Nothing much anyone would guess there.

However one big thing about this is without those two who went to Saudi I would have said we were more than ready for the season.

Only player I was particularly keen on seeing was a CB.

But the club has made zero statement about Lavia, as is their practice.

Immortal he may be but injury proof? He’s yet to go through our training regimen…
