Ronald Araujo (CB) Barca (Loan)

Those lads are a MILE below that. They have one senior appearance between them, in the Austrian league.

Joyce actually wrote it that way; hopefully, this has been discussed with the player—otherwise, I don’t find that particularly motivating.

Edit

I don’t think the term ā€œsticking plasterā€ is well-chosen—it’s disappointing, and it was unnecessary to report that even if true.

Why agree a fee if we arent going to consider buying him
With vvd, tsmkas , endo out9f contract if this blokes decent then keep him

Maybe they agreed a fee so that if he comes in and is amazing they can consider making it a permanent transfer, if it doesn’t work out then it was cover whilst the youngsters were getting fit/settled

Its an understandable viewpoint, thatd be why its an option to buy rather than an obligation.

The club and player know that he isn’t at his best and hasnt been for a couple of years. Planning for future seasons as though he will definitely regain his former level would be naive.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Hopefully he reaches his former level, falls in love the club, and goes onto be a legend. Plan for the loan move being a disaster so we’re not caught short again next season if it doesnt pan out.

It’s a stupid piece to write, one that serves no purpose.

All loans with options work the same way, from hereon it’s very much on the player to impress…and if he does, I see no reason why we wouldn’t opt to buy outright.

He comes in, knocks it of the park and has both the player and fans desperate for it to be made permanent, and some bright spark decides to spend twice as much of ducking Diouff instead
