Even the £50m for Romeo seems obscene.
He would look a lot better with Jürgen coaching him.
I think this exactly every time I see him receive or have the ball at his feet (obviously, Pogba in his first Juventus spell). Similar build and technical ability, thinking a second ahead of his marker when he’s receiving the ball and pulling off smart dummies, gliding across the pitch, picking his shots from all sorts of positions…
I don’t think our midfield works well as a unit when it comes to defensive phase, not yet at least, this is where I hope all of our midfielders, including him and Trent, improve. Sometimes we’re just too easy to bypass. If that collective effort and understanding improves and injuries give us a swerve, we’ll see just how good our players are. And he’ll have to make up for that Brighton miss anyway!
Or at least a player with the traits many here associate with being a “proper 6”
Maybe with the way Trent plays, Klopp feels it would crowd an area. About 99% of teams it doesn’t much matter.
Yes, but what you think doesn’t matter. It’s what Klopp thinks that does.
Good. Means he’ll be fit for our games.
Also means he’ll love the love he get’s from LFC, Klopp the fans.
I don’t get it, Is this news supposed to cause some sort of provocation? Wonder what his “certain opinion” was when the Dutch side decided to embarrassingly opt out the Euros?
Here’s the thing about Ronald Koeman: the man’s a cunt.
Bit early to announce squads.
Two weeks til they break up again, usually announced a week or so before the break.
Just can’t wrap my head around the Dutch reaction… young player transferred opts out of a meaningless u21 friendly to turn up for his new club, train, and earn his way on to the pitch to secure a place, opportunity, and future at a top club… which is the ONLY way he gets a look in the National team going forward.
And your reaction is to make a statement and freeze him out???
Koeman is incapable of making his lack of footballing acumen do his talking for him, through his teams on the pitch… He has to deflect this fact at every opportunity… hence the cheap shots at making a noise that will get headlines…
Just ask any Barcelona fan would they ever have him back… Think we already know the answer to that
Koeman’s doing us a favour. What a legend.
I’d like to know what the view of this is in the Netherlands.
@Dutch ?
Friendlies are not meaningless… wouldn’t say they are very important either.
But for managers hired to do a job (help their national teams achieve results), you can see how their personal interests could conflict with the overall well-being of players.
Things are only ugly because Koeman is selfish and doesn’t care that Gravenberch made the right choice for his long-term career.
Really an U21 starter wasn’t going to affect much… Maybe a slap on the wrist penalty would have done.
It’s not like he’s got a great group of players as an alternative. In recent games he has played a collection of utterly unremarkable players in midfield - a collection of players who either still play in holland long after top dutch talents leave, or players who left for Europa League level team. About the only guy who might be offended by that description is the Reijndeers kid at Milan, but he hasnt really done anything there yet to suggest you’d overlook a now returning to form Gravenberch
Koeman just seems to be taking a really short sighted view. It benefits the Dutch team more if Gravenberch establishes himself in our squad. Skipping 1 friend to get a head start in that seems the smart decision for everyone.
Xavi Simons is excellent.
Point still stands though. Koeman is another Dutch manager who is desperate to show everyone he’s the boss, and this is the fight he’s picked. Weird behaviour.
