I would have also considered him for us but much earlier on in the window.
Weird move from out part, to be honest.
The only argument I can see is that maybe he’s an early Thiago replacement for next summer (if not earlier). Not stylistically, but body for body in CM.
Then the situation might be: Szoboszlai and Gravenberch for RCM, Mac Allister and Jones for LCM. With of course, some of those players being able to play elsewhere.
I don’t see the need for him, I would rather see us bring a more proper #6 or maybe even more importantly now, a defender.
We could have a situation next summer where we’re chasing a Salah replacement, a serious #6 (then Endo might remain as backup, if he doesn’t prove he’s better than that more or worse!) and 1-2 CB’s. That could be a bit one to swallow. But we’ll see when we get there.
Last season the biggest damage was done on the pitch, they all needed to look at themselves; players, coaching staff, Klopp as the leader of it. The drop was too big.
Now, I hope that the damage isn’t bigger and bigger in the level above them, sporting director, etc. We really need to find the right combination again.

we need 1 or 2 CBs really ahead of this guy - as i said earlier, this feels like one they didnt really want to but have been forced to.
So odd that most people said we would sign Kone and/or Thuram and we didnt - but also they havent gone anywhere else.
Ive not played FIfa or PES for about 10 years so all these players we are being linked with ive never heard of let alone see play.
When i played the football games you would see a youth team player with decent stats and when he made his real life debut keep an eye on him. Nasri and Agureo were 2 players i used to sign from their youth teams as they had great stats and become good players in real life.
Sorry, just went off on a tangent there…but point is Ive never heard of any of our signings this summer bar Mac Allister and thats only cos he won WC - Didnt really notice him in Prem

I’m assuming that these snippets and rumours are coming from Bayern. Do you think they are punting around in the hope that someone else bids?

It’s just a side note, if we sign him and he turns out great, fantastic - but it does bug me a bit that Bayern always seem to find clubs willing to pay good money for their flops.

I disagree with this on the point of where “this feels like one they didnt really want to but have been forced to”.
For the last year, it has seemed like Klopp really wanted this guy but he wasn’t available. What he sees in him, I don’t know but this is probably not a desperation buy.
He just isn’t someone I rate but if he comes in, hopefully wiser minds prevail.

I kind of expected us to buy another CM just felt the idea was to do that but I think they are keen on bringing Bajectic through so I do wonder where Lavia would have played if they had got him.
We need a CB I agree, we don’t need two.

It means they call Bayern and then say “We’ve got to clear this with Romano first”

Haven’t a clue where he is getting his info from. I would think from his second paragraph he means that Bayern have told our club that the final price for Ryan may depend on what Bayern are quoted for his replacement - hence why we might be telling them we are ready to submit a formal bid in advance of actually doing so?
