Sadio Mane (LW) to Bayern

Great player but not in our top 10.

If he had said the last 20 years though…then maybe has a good shout.

great player - all the best for the future (except against Liverpool)!

Hope he turns out the biggest flop for Bayern.

How can anyone wish him well at Bayern. :joy:

Because I hope their defence and midfield flop instead…

Anyone else think he’s better than Hazard/Bale/Alexis in their prime in the Prem?

I think he sustained a high standard for longer than those.

Good luck Sadio and thanks for the memories.

Maybe, but damn close, and our top ten is outrageous.

Alternatively, footballers are not know for the eloquence even when speaking in their native language. Sadio is a man for whom english is at best a second language, maybe fourth, who knew he was leaving and when asked a direct question about his future didnt want to take focus away from the game and ended up saying something in his non native language that in retrospect was a but clumsy.

If we cannot give the benefit of the doubt to someone who has conducted himself with such dignity and respect for the club during an incredibly successful 6 year spell then we cannot give it to anyone.

I think its between him and Alexis. Perhaps the latter just slightly nudges it.

He might be our third greatest left-sided attacker of all time, behind Liddell and Barnes.

I wish him well in his future career; he seems like a genuinely top bloke. It’s such a pity that he didn’t want to see out his career with us but I fully understand his desire to explore pastures new.

Realistically, I’d say Hazard and Bale were above him.

Sanchez is more of a conversation, I’d take Mane slightly ahead of him.

Wonder if the club knew about this all along or were they so busy sorting Salah they kinda forgot about Sadio?

Anyways. He leaves a legend. We’ve sold him for what we bought him for and had 6 great years. He’ll win the league next season that’s for sure.

All players come and go. That’s the football life.

I think as a pure attacking force, maybe. But Mane achieved the level of threat he reached while doing a lot more work in other areas for the team.

No idea :person_shrugging:

Sadio was my favorite player for these last several years. The first Liverpool shirt I bought in a decade had Mane’s name on the back. It was not simply his excellent play - but his grace, his significant generosity both in Liverpool and back in his native Senegal, his character, and his never-give-up attitude that made him someone I was proud to root for. He was part of Klopp’s first summer class of signings, and he helped usher in one of the greatest periods in this club’s storied history.

It’s crushing that he’s leaving, and I’m grateful it’s not to another Premier League side. But while I’m disappointed in his departure, I understand that it was probably the best decision for both the Reds and for Mane. I wish him nothing but the best - except against us, of course.
