Sadio Mane (LW) to Bayern

Understood. Yeah I can imagine Barnes being able to provide in both directions. But compared with Mane in global, probably more of a creator type. Especially with his later career when he was more of a midfielder.

Good point. Coming from a small and relatively insignificant football nation with a domestic league of limited interest, I can say it’s definitely true that having a player doing well in a big team in a big league increases the interest in said league. Gives the tv-channels an incentive to secure broadcasting rights, which again drives the interest further and helps establish the league in that particular market.

So if Mane does well at Bayern, I would guess that could become a pretty big deal in Senegal, and generate interest in the Bundesliga.

Yeboah and Okocha spring to mind.

Interesting Sterling is going to Chelsea for Ā£35mil, at 26 and 1 year left… Show how good Mane is.

Mane is clearly streets ahead of Sterling.

Don’t want to compare with Barnes as both are/were so phenomenal. Just glad we had such brilliant players at our club.

Where is everyone seeing this Sterling news. I kind of hope it happens, because while he might do ok at Chelsea it is absolutely not where Chelsea need to focus this summer (losing 2, possibly 3 of their starting defense).

Plus, any free kick on the left near the box was a JB goal.

John Barnes won 3 titles with Liverpool, Mane only won 1. So Barnes was better. Seriously though its hard to compare, im old so i always think things were better years ago.
Both are club legends and will be forever.

Club legend but I seriously have no idea why he is leaving for Bayern.

Think it will be one he regrets

I’m sure it pisses Klopp off that he is losing another player to Bayern. He cant stand those fuckers.

Sadio does not have the passing skills to play in a midfield role.

His drop in form needs to be addressed considering it was around 18 months, we won’t know if we miss him or not until the end of next season. I see some say we missed Gini but I don’t think the season pans out any better for us with him. That being said I’d be open for taking him back as well as keeping Mane.

I do think by purchasing Darwin we’ve bought in a starter who can do what Origi does and more. Proof is in the season, Carvalho and Elliott might become undroppable, the potential in the squad is crazy.

I wish Mane all the best bar if they face us in the CL.

I don’t mind if we get drawn against Sadio + Bayern next season at some important stage of the CL…
Ibra has got this… :0)

I dont think he will regret it. He may well miss it here.

I haven’t seen the seeding yet, but is it possible for us, Bayern, Milan to be be in same group?

Nope. Bayern and Milan in pot A, Liverpool in pot B.

What a shame

I don’t think that’s true, is it?
