The Cricket Thread (Part 2)

There was a weak appeal by England on one in the first innings of Pakistan and that was given out on Umpires call as well.

It’s on. It’s not over until it’s over.

Bangladesh 70/7

Sorry Ifti.

There’s probably no way that a team can recover from being 64 all out in the first innings.

But Bangladesh did probably outperform Australia over the course of the entire series (if you look at it session by session ). There definitely wasn’t a session that Australia won in the first test.

Another day, another drinking crisis in English cricket.

And even better for anyone who enjoys seeing the Aussie cricket team brought down a peg, Cam Green has probably cemented his place in the side for another 20 tests.

From the Beeb article, ‘Stokes pictured in the background’. Are there any incidents where this guy isn’t present? He’s like the fucking Pied Piper ffs.

How stupid can people get ?

Why even go out and drink especially if you can’t handle it. Nothing’s stopping him from having his mates over to his house and having a couple of drinks and some dinner.

Out of curiosity, what is the drinking culture within cricket like in S.A.?

Aus and NZ both have strong drinking culture within the game, but seem to have found a much more healthy relationship with booze than the English have.

I know Soth Africans love a beer in general, but is a post match beer bif in South Africa and they have a better handle of their booze like in Aus and NZ compared to the English, or has the drinking culture largely gone from the game?

It’s a thing in the amateur game but nothing prevalent in the professional ranks at all. They’ll probably be available in the dressing rooms after and depending on the teams playing, some intermingling after but you really don’t hear of players going out and getting bounced out of bars and nightclubs or visibly bar hopping on tour. The English penchant for this kind of thing is baffling to me.

Someone was trying to suggest everyone was being woke about night clubs but it’s not going out and having a drink. It’s having the police involved after every visit. I went to nightclubs up to the age of 30. And I drank enough (one night getting home somehow with a busted open knee) and yet I never ended up in trouble with police and nethier do 99% of people.

Let’s face it about 99% of people wouldn’t have a clue who this guy is.

Surely alcohol and sports don’t mix. It’s the opposite of performance enhancing.
If you want to be a top professional sportsperson, you shouldn’t drink (unless it’s darts).
It’s not hard to understand.
