The Cricket Thread (Part 2)

That Lords pitch is a nightmare alright.

NZ currently 8-3

Robinson 3 wickets in one over for 0 runs

Make that 12-4

29/6 now, potentially still 50 minutes left to complete this one day match

As the old saying goes, don’t judge an inning until both teams have batted.

Also

That is a shocker of a pitch. I know cricket in general nowadays is overly batsman dominated but this extreme reversal isn’t a good spectacle either.

Apparently it’s been ‘steamed’.
No, I don’t know what that means either.

they can call it steamed broiled fried sautĂ©ed whatever they want. They’re basically cocked it up

Feel a bit emosh watching Robinson’s interview. He thought he’d never play for England again. And his voice was quivering during the interview :face_holding_back_tears:

NZ getting a bit of a Tongue lashing this morning

also, Mark Butcher this morning:
“In batting, there are two types of leaves, a good leave and a bad leave.”

This, apparently

only saw a small amount of hightlights from day 1, but the pitch didn’t look too bad too me but most of the wickets looks more like bad technique/decision making from the batters.

I think sometimes the pitch is such that the unplayable deliveries don’t get wickets.

Haven’t checked the highlights of this one though.

Difficult but not unplayable. Ironic that the three players who got above 30 all did a bit of classic bazball to get there.

50 bob on Jamieson for MoM?

So 140 and 113 for the opening innings and even with two rain delays yesterday it only took an hour this morning for England to be batting again. Those tickets for day 5 looking like a shrewd investment, anyone know a good rain dance :joy:

There have been four leaves so far that crashed into the off stump after jagging off the surface. I don’t think those were all misreading seam position of the incoming ball.

Did nobody have a look at the pitch report?

It looks like they’re not even looking at the ball let alone the pitch.

Test cricket is still the best of cricket IMO. I think it has been helped out by the growth of limited overs cricket bringing some different skills into the test arena, but we are also seeing far too collapses these days, and when they happen they happen to what would have been a historical degree 20 years ago. Days like yesterday arent good at all for the game IMO.

50 partnership! Bring out the Bollinger!

England are 80 ahead. How many more before do they need before they declare?

Well Monday is fine day so might as well try and bat through the weather.
