29 to get… Even England can get this done now, surely.

Well done Root. a 4th innings 100 in a winning effort is always something that will be remembered.

Congratulations to Root.

Great match.

That no-ball was the turning point.

Cook texting his mum to find out what time he was born, priceless TMS moment.

Its noteworthy that two non english people felt that england had a fair chance of winning when they were 120 odd for 5 even.

When you’ve had 50 years of false dawns, sudden collapses, dismal underperformance and the occasional surprising win, you do tend to be a bit cynical.

It took a moment of luck and a 100+ stand to get the victory.

England only became favourites once it became clear that the ball was doing nothing this morning.

It was an absorbing contest and sets up an exciting series.

England still need 3 top oder batsmen and a decent spinner, but it’s great to break the pattern of defeats.

Goes for every team right now. All the top teams right now are reliant on 1 or at max 2 top batsmen and none of them have a stable opening pair.

Groundsman probably working all night with the heavy roller

You speak like an Indian cricket fan.

Here we go.

Sorry to see that Williamson is out.
This will be another low scoring game and all the better for it.
Broad and Anderson at Trent Bridge. Brilliant stuff!

Nice day. Win the toss. And we’re bowling first? Hmm…

Not looking dangerous so far

Indeed.

Should not depart from the classic mantra of
"If you win the toss, bat. If you are in doubt, think about it, then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague, then bat” .

NZ motoring along here nicely at nearly 4 an over. 64/0 after 17 overs.

Just seen that Jack Leach is playing. What a pointless selection.

Rubbish prediction by me. I’ll try again. NZ to get 500-3 dec.

Just madness to have bowled first on this wicket in these conditions. I’d expect NZ to be >300 for 2 or 3 at the end of today.

Successfully cursed Will Young. He’ll have to leave right now.

So New Zealand B team finally get their first wicket.

Been a poor start though, so doubt it will change much and can see New Zealand A team setting +500

Shit, another one gone. Latham gone, now 84/2.

What are you on about?
Are we Dortmund because Klopp’s German?

New Zealand’s morning, no doubt.
Still looking like a big first innings score.
