Drifting away from England. Leach just doesn’t turn the ball enough.

Dar should have given Blundell out to make up for his shocker earlier.

Did Adil Rashid retire from test cricket or do we not use him because he goes for a few runs? Leggie is surely likely to get wickets with his sharp turn

Yeah they often play a few games around Lancashire, remember Lancashire incoporated Liverpool in the old days.

They have a ground over Southport way which they use for one county match a year, as my brother met Muttiah Muralitharan. He knew I was a cricket fan and they were staying at the hotel he worked at só asked me which player I would like an autograph from and Muttiah was basically blowing the test scene away at the time so I said him, rest assured he got me it and said the guy was absolutely top notch.

Surrey play one out in Richmond and one a bit further over as well as a couple of ODI’s which I’ve attended.

No place for leggies with risk aversive captains now. Sad times

Its not the lack of turn which is the problem. As a spinner, the lack of guile and variety will catch you out more

Well , england only produced proper batsmen from Gower onwards… And then KP and Root.

I see the need for someone buckling down and showing a dead bat when the situation calls for it , it is gutsy. But doesnt mean that it makes for good watching.

And def doesnt call for an opener like boycott especially after the shine has gone off the ball refusing to kick on.

Pujara is someone who scores at a decent rate @ home.

His batting away is gutsy. But still renains a very limited batsman

Are you talking in general? Tell that to Sri Lanka. They are playing this ODI with 4 specialist spinners, two of those leg spinners. Sure you sort of expect that in Sri Lanka but still.

Those spinners won’t play in tests that much though.

I should have rephrased , No place for leggies in test cricket now.

That’s funny man

What an insane day of cricket. England are 264/6 off only 49 overs. They trail NZ by only 65 runs.

At one stage they were 21/4, then 55/6.

Bairstow is 130 not out off 126 balls and Overton, on debut, is 89 not out off 106 balls.

They added 209 in 37 overs.

Bairstow is the most destructive batsman on the planet when he’s in form, he hits the ball ridiculously hard.

What a series this is turning out to be.

Put £20 on at this point :cowboy_hat_face::cowboy_hat_face::cowboy_hat_face:

That’s the beauty of test matches. From being knocked out on the canvas to launching a counter attack.

And the game could turn again in either direction in the first hour of Day 3.
