June/July none in August because of the 100
I said where. Aussies are known flat track bats. England will out hit them in England easily.
Oh right yeah sorry usual places
Lords, Oval, Egdbastion, Old Trafford and Headingly (apologies for the spelling).
In Pat Cummins nightmares
Stokes decided to retire from 50 over white ball ODIs, regretted it instantly and realised he could have twice the fun in test matches. Just one problem with that. I liked test cricket the way it was for 50 years
The absolute state of South Africa’s test batting at the moment. Temba Bavuma has now played 53 test matches and only has one century to his name, barely averaging over 30. Surely they can find somebody better than that.
Bavuma is a joke as a cricketer
Sensitive I know but I’m guessing the quota system helps Bavuma….
But back to the series. Well done to everyone’s favourite player Dave Warner for 100 in his 100th.
Yeah kudos to him. I’ve never been a fan of him, even before Sandpapergate, given how entirely full of himself he’s always appeared to be.
I’m happy he’s got some runs though coming into the Ashes. God knows the Aussie selectors wouldn’t drop him regardless of form so any confidence he can pick up coming into a series he’s always struggled in is good. Warner can do it on a flat Aussie pitch but can he do it on a cold, damp morning on a swinging pitch in Edgbaston? Probably not.
Also Travis Head has been fantastic, especially coming in to smash runs, but his real test will be coming in at number 5 earlier than he would have liked where we’ve lost a few cheap wickets ( yes possible even with Smith and Marnus in the side). That for sure will happen in England at least a couple of times. It’s not that these players can’t or won’t be able to replicate it in England, it’s just they haven’t been recently tested in such scenarios.
I’m feeling a shitonne more confident in the next Ashes than I was 6 or 12 months ago, especially with the batting lineup, but all form against teams like present day SA and Windies mean nothing. Stakes are much higher in Ashes.
Never has the C word been more appropriate than for David Warner. Classless, nasty, cheating piece of……
I guess I do not like him
The Aussie batting does seem to have improved but there’s a 4 match series against India to come. I expect that will provide a better bench mark. Even if the Indian batting is in dreadful form right now.
The Suarez of the Cricketing world. Bastard but a hell of a sportsman. Maybe the one often requires or drives the other? History is littered with flawed geniuses.
Oz have had way more nasty-yet-talented batsmen than him before. Don’t think he’s quality enough to warrant a license for his dickish behaviour
This India NZ ODI has been incredible. Gill with a double hundred for India (34 the next highest score for them), and now Bracewell is 132 not out striking at 180 with two overs left, 24 needed to win.
Great innings by both of them.
Alright … Countdown started for whinging on how unfair Indian test pitches are.
Are you talking about the Australian media? They are filled with bellends like Ian Healy so I don’t think anyone pays them much attention. As for Australian players, I don’t think they’ve said anything about the pitches apart from that they won’t play warm-up matches because it’s pointless if they get a pitch opposite to what will be given for the actual test match. Which I think everyone in the world would think is fair enough.
Good to see Jofra back!
Yeah I hope he can stay fit so we can see him in the Ashes.
