More likely due to him being a massive prick.
People have been talking like it was the worse pitch of all time, clearly it was very difficult to bat on but I’m not sure it was 4 scores under 200 bad. There was some really superb bowling and in equal measure brainless batting.
Yeah some utterly dumb shots to be honest. It would easily have played 3 days on it without that.
Cam Green is lucky all the focus has been on English batsman because he’s arguably had the most laughable set of dismissals from either side.
Batsmen nowadays don’t have the technique to graft innings together.
Can blame T20 for that among other reasons. The downfall started in 2010s.
It’s not that they don’t have the technique, today’s batsmen don’t have the mentality honed through practice at scratching around to survive. In fact t20 rewards the opposite. The assessment is being made by this English side that in Test cricket it’s better to go hard at the ball, perhaps even miss hit for 4 or 6, than leave it outside off stump if the length or line is not right for a drive, pull or cut. On very flat pitches or extremely tough wickets this may work at times but, in the long run and across 5 day tests, it reduces the likelihood they will be batting when conditions are easier.
Some fabulous hitting in cricket today, no doubt about it, but I’d hazard a guess that at least 30-40% of the runs scored are streaky at best which, in my opinion, lulls batters (and everyone else) into thinking they’re better than they are which leads to them getting found out the moment there’s a little bit of bite in the track.
Yeah bigger bats and sweet spots and ropes 20m inside the boundary hasn’t helped.
Get well soon Daimo. Sounds pretty horrific

Just saw the news.
Yes, wish him well.
Looking likely to rain for the fifth test.
Not a huge surprise.
Well they only need 2 days.
A lot of rain forecast for the first two days of the Sydney Test.
Bashir in the squad. I really hope they don’t play him.
I feel he’d be on a hiding to nothing. It’s likely his confidence has already been affected by going from “number one spinner” to a mere afterthought.
Do well, and it’s still fairly “meaningless” in a dead rubber. Do badly, and it’s a harsh, negative experience for this young bowler.
If he plays, I hope I’m wrong.
Another fast bowler injury for England with Atkinson out. Potts in - no idea about him, apparently he played in the PM11 game - so England could be somewhat weaker.
As to Bashir, it’s either him or Jacks and surely we’ve seen enough of Jacks to know he isn’t good enough to play as the front line spinner on an historically turning pitch.
Yeah Atkinson went down in the last ones didn’t he?
Potts has bowled a few times I think he had a decent debut but hasn’t really featured much since.
Potts is steady. I wouldn’t expect fireworks from him, but if he can tie an end up, that’ll be something we’ve lacked. Shame to lose Atkinson’s batting down the order though.
