I paid for Discovery+ when it was £6.99. You got every single race, including the second tier.

To be fair, 7 quid was probably too cheap for that. However, for it to increase fourfold…not on at all. I think cycling is at a crossroads, the funding model is hamstrung by the fact you can’t sell tickets and bikes now cost more than a small car.

Dunno where it goes from here, tbh.

Tiz Cycling. Cycling Fans. Cycling Today. There’s three free streaming sites. And if they aren’t to your liking there’s always S4C. And there’s NBC and Sky Sports NZ. All available from here. DaddyLiveHD - Live Sports Streaming Free - DaddyLiveHD.sx - DLHD No one should be paying to watch live cycling.

Yeah, one impression I got from that Netflix series is how close to the edge many teams are, and their revenue is essentially built around sponsorship. No coincidence that some of the biggest teams are oil states as well.

When you throw in the vitriol from certain press outlets I dont see where future generations come from. This doesnt help.

Yeah…I found Tiz via Reddit last year. Pretty decent stream.

It’ll be interesting to see the Grand Depart next year. Or not if you rely upon terrestrial tv in the UK. The cycling bubble in the UK scene has burst. There’s less interest in the Pro-Scene, probably based on peoples interest not being as piqued as it was when there were British riders racing for wins at the GT’s. And most of those new fans were only interested in the big races. How many of them would be watching…Tour de Burgos, as an example. I and I would think most fans of cycling will get by without ITV.

It’s on S4C

Cross fingers they keep it up next year.

The crash on the line for a solitary KoM point was crazy. Luckily they both seem able to continue but we already have 1 DNF

That was a fun end to the stage. Beautifully executed by Alpecin. Intelligently ridden by VLAB and UAE. Evenepoel and Roglic…Lipowitz too…clown school riding. Everyone, pre race, suggested there would be echelons, so why are you and your team off the front when the decisive move is made? The teams of Evenepoel and Roglic should have been put on the front and made to reduce that gap. And then there’s Lidl, who had one of the favourites for today and they didn’t make much of an effort to bring back group one. If you look at the composition of group two and you’ve got multiple sprinters or GC guys with teammates. Yet, they continued to lose time. Much too passive.

Is it a reflection of how the GC battle is seen, outside of VLAB and UAE?

It was also good to see Lenny Martinez finish the stage. He is obviously ill. I’ve never seen him do such a bad ride. Hopefully the next few days will help him recover.

Yep, some definitely caught out.

Jasper the disaster in yellow. He makes me stupid nervous when he sprints. He drifts all over the show.

Some consolation for next year

Coquard just took him out!
Coquard at fault imo went into the rider Infront of him to his right lost control and swept Jasper out.

Must not look.

8pm curfew please

For more United giggles. Ineos have the second most expensive bike in the tour but were, as of Sunday 49 seconds off the pace and that rider wasnt their main GC hope.

Spend the money and still fail

Great stage again yesterday with a proper ding dong battle between the three favourites for that stage. Really enjoyable to watch. Big shout out to Pogi with 100 career race wins. Not quite as quick as Merckx though.

Crazy how much better Jonas and Tadej are than the rest of the field. Other podium contenders are basically a minute down already at best. Ineos over 2 minutes.

A major disappointment, for me, was Alaphillipe who due to a flat tyre wasn’t there for the last 15% hill. That’s one of his strong points. Could have been an interesting fight for the stage.

Still too many crashes, some parts where the route narrowed the signalling and barriers weren’t well placed. Paving in the middle of the road not signalled at all with riders ahead not indicating the obstacle (they didn’t look like much but if you hit one at the wrong angle over you go). Difficult route due to extreme changes in route width.

Time trial today. Conditions favorables with the wind just picking up a little as the afternoon progresses.

But what a ride he did to get back to the peloton.

Yep flat time trial today. Could be interesting again.
