If you have a stupid capping system what else can you expect?

The capping system isnt a bad idea, England still produce quality players and have the best record of the northern hemisphere teams at world cups even if you remove the win. The capping system helps to protect the quality of the prem as well, personally I’m a fan of it as a means of stopping Frances financially dominant league taking everyone.

I think we have to start taking seriously the possibility that the money it takes to run a global professional game, with the number of players required given the physical demands and injury potential, is something the interest in the game cannot sustain.

As it currently stands, but part of that rests on the accessibility of the sport. In England trying to watch a club level game is an absolute arse ache owing to poor TV deals. Everything is simultaneously televised but hard to access

One thing I will give the world governing body is they declined a hefty Saudi offer to be part of their sports washing. They’ve pivoted instead to trying to build in America. Remains to be seen if it will pay off

The cap system in England is ridiculous as half the teams don’t even have half they are allowed to spend. That means they go bankrupt.
The French capping system is better as it’s based on how much a club earns.

Misunderstood which cap you were on about; thought you meant only capping players for England if they play in England. Though a flat cap on league spending as opposed to the richer teams being able to dominate isn’t a bad thing either. Where the salary cap is definitely is an issue though.

The finances in England are a mess, not just at club level but in the RFU as well. Bill Sweeney is a dodgy fucker.

Excellent first half from the saints. Freeman, Pollock, Mitchell, and Smith surely all in line for lions call ups later on in the year.

Prendegast having a mare, Saints actively targeting him. However I expect Leinster’s deep bench will decide the second half, especially with 7 of Saints ideal 23 out injured leaving the bench very light weight.

Still, immensely happy with how well we’ve played first half. :crossed_fingers:For the second

THEY FUCKING DID IT!!!

WHAT THE SHIT IS THIS MESSAGE, LET ME CELEBRATE :joy::joy:

Lions squad announced

Gosh that is a devastating indictment of the state of Welsh rugby and I dont think anyone can really make much of a claim for anyone else.

I had thought that Feletau and perhaps Murray at a long shot. And Dewi Lake of course. Not to be. I wouldnt have taken Williams myself. Agreed we are in a mess. Regions issues remain unresolved and still no plan or mensvinternational coach.

Interestingly Farrel has appeared to have gone for flexibility. No out and out no. 8 and players that can fill in positions along the backline. Especiallyvas they have to wait for Kinghorne.

Terrible development for Welsh rugby. Don’t know what the solution is to stop the decline, but it does feel like a very troublesome period for Wales.

That might not happen straight away but they ha6fe revealed thet will not fund all regions equally.

I actually think it will ultimately lead to the same thing.

Timing is exquisite as usual, just as Scarlets make the post season games.

I dont think it solves anything, a sticking plaster approach. They’ve just cut some community funding.

Champions Cup final today, kicks off in about 15 minutes. Free live stream on YouTube. Come on you Saints.

I hope Northampton smash horrible Bordeaux.

Not wrong about horrible. Fucking dirty from Baros there. Nothing accidental about it. 2 of the back 3 out in the opening 5 mins leaves me without much hope tbh.

Yep I was wondering if Northampton would finish the game.
I don’t feel the ref is exercising enough ‘control’.
Anyway if Bordeaux go behind again they will resort to fighting, that’s their style.
Been a good game though with Bordeaux being a bit more dominant physically. A few too many errors from Northampton if they cut those out they have a good chance.

Been piss poor for my money, maybe it’s my bias and a sense of frustration but two of them should’ve been red carded. The knee and the yellow.

I’m trying very hard to be reasonable about the ref. With absolutely detesting Bordeaux and listening to extremely bias french commentary I could get quite carried away.
I need the commentary to understand what and why things are being given as I’m not up with the laws of the game.
