Agreed, Draper had a formula that worked with most players but I don’t know whether his team underestimated or didn’t do their homework on Bublik. He is a maverick talent and on his day can take out anyone. A serve that big backed up my drop shots that accurate would trouble anybody.

I think Rublev’s had enough…just watching on waiting for the inevitable rage…

Like the commentator was saying, “Sinner can do everything Rublev can, only markedly better”. Marat Safin had the look of “I need a stiff drink” from set 1

Alcaraz was in ruthless demolition mode!! Poor Tommy Paul!

Am I the only one who’s very pessimistic on women’s tennis ? The state as it is right now especially when compared to the 2000s

“He self-Vamoss-ed??”

Mens final has been epic. Down to the wire. Thought Sinner was finished after he failed with his three championship points well over an hour ago.

Incredible final.

Drama reminded me of Wimbledon '08.

Both years my sympathy pick lost, but on days like these you just appreciate what you saw.

Shame Sinner did fk all in that tie break.

Not the last time we will see these two compete in grand slam finals against each other

Think the occasion and the physical demands got to him. He’s not played a five setter in ages!

Sinner’s baseline (pun intended) standard is markedly higher than practically every player the tour. Straight sets all the way to the final (including Djokovic)

Except Alcaraz.

Alcaraz on the other hand isn’t as consistent as Jannik.
However his peak is higher than Sinner’s (at least currently).

And clearly Carlos relishes the competition and raises his levels. With almost everyone else, it’s almost as if he gets bored sometimes and drops his level. Which is why he dropped a number of sets in his run to the final.

Fantastic match. The quality was insanely high.
Great rivalry to look forward to

Just rewatched the championship tiebreak. Alcaraz reached a level that possibly no player in history has reached. His movement, the accuracy and absolute savage power in his shots. Jaw dropping even on a replay

Alcaraz grew into the match. Refusing to die even if the first two sets were tough for him

Sinner coasted through the first 2 sets and was well in course to win at 40-0 leading 5-3 in the fourth. But he could not put alcaraz away.

Amazing grit by Alcaraz.

Alcaraz seems like a genuinely decent guy off the court too.

McEnroe was warming down in the players gym after his legends match. Carlos was in to start his warmup before a practice session and got on the bike next to him. Told John that he looked in great shape. John said “yeah, for a 66 year old”. Carlos goes “you look no older than mid 50s”

As I said seems a decent guy off court.

Well, better late than never. It does point to a lot of work to be done with her mentality and emotions.

Fair play to Lehechka for making the final. And great effort from Draper to battle through tonsillitis to get to at least the semifinal. Regained the world no4 spot
