Life is hard and we don’t always get the things we would like but despite that let’s be happy about this transfer window, given the quality of these new players that have joined the club.
Let’s have some faith in Arne too, because he has already performed better than many could have hoped for. He has the ability to not only see something in certain players that others may not have, but also to convince those players of their ability to perform in different positions. Short of a DM last summer? Oh look, Ryan Gravenberch was in the squad already. Short of a RB these last couple of games? Who knew that Dominik Szoboszlai would be not just an able emergency cover, but even more than that?
Once the new signings have bedded in properly and we start to see new patterns and ideas emerge I’m confident that we’ll see an even better squad that is more capable of challenging on all fronts.
It’s not like the other teams aren’t without problems of their own
City - Guardiola’s aura of invincibility / inevitablity seems to have gone. Plus they’ve made quite a lot of signings as well.
Arsenal - Arteta’s limitations will catch them out. All good adding bench strength but none of their signings seem to really make them make the next move. Strongest team in the league on paper , well yeah. if you count their bench strength.
Tottenham - Have had a pretty decent transfer window and have hired a capable coach but lads, it’s tottenham.
Newcastle - Have made some signings , but their lost their main one and have had a terrible start to the season
Aston Villa - PSR and missing out on CL screwed them up quite a bit.
Chelsea - Made good signings and have won the world club cup. They are going to probably be amongst there in terms of competition (the top 4). But their first team isn’t as strong as ours.
United - a loss away from their fanbase getting on their tits and asking for the manager to be sacked
Forest - again, a disappointing window for them and the results so far this season speak for that
Who else ? Palace - They’ll be up there in the top half.
That’s more like what City or Arsenal. If Arteta fails this year, Iraola should be up there in the reckoning. Will be frightening to see Arsenal with Iraola at the helm.
For all Howe did at Bournemouth, he did come off as very naive in his tactics at quite a bit of times too. He had no business getting Bournemouth relegated at the 19-20 season
Looks like next summer might interesting too, but not nearly as busy as this one was.
Liverpool are plotting a January move for Guehi and are also looking at Bayern Munich and France forward, Michael Olise, 23 as a long-term successor for their Egypt star Mohamed Salah, 33. (Mail - subscription required)
Liverpool , Tottenham and Newcastle are all considering making a move to sign Brighton and Netherlands defender Jan Paul van Hecke, 25, in 2026. (Teamtalk)
Not terrible for us. They gave us huge money for Ibe. And Solanke as well. Another matter that Solanke turned it around. But he wasn’t too good initially.
There might be a time when we change it, but from what I know, that is categorically what we don’t do with our players, in negotiations over new contracts and players we buy.
Of course, this is fake, as anyone closely associated with Liverpool knows, but this rumor seems to be coming from a Bayern-friendly camp, and they’re currently in full swing with the Wirtz bashing. I’ve never seen so many rumors, fake posts, insults, etc. about Wirtz before.
Wirtz is a silky player and I’ve no doubts about him whatsoever. We have added a few more moving parts to the team and a cohesive side needs to emerge, and while we wait they are all learning each other’s movement and runs and so on. Wirtz will be an integral part of the new attack that will boss it and I can’t wait to see it.
In the meantime, while it is still a work in progress, nine points and top of the league isn’t too bad.
The clause for Wirtz is a joke. The clause for Olise probably is not, and we should be all over that next summer.
Bayern can bully everyone in Germany. They are learning that they cannot bully Liverpool, and in fact, the way we made moves this summer showed them where they currently stand in relation to LFC in the pecking order. Next summer’s move for Olise will underscore it.
