The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

I’m surprised we let Quansah go if we didn’t have confidence we’d bring in another CB. Surely we will see this occur within the next couple of weeks…

I don’t doubt there’s a plan but with the season starting Friday you’d hope we weren’t still looking to fill two major holes in the squad.

However, I can’t see a world where we let Quansah and Nunez leave without being extremely confident of the replacements coming in.

It’s the window not the season you have to consider yes you want players to settle in but everyone bought so far will be first team starters, central defence will be 3rd choice at this moment. Isak I suppose does complicate and yet the team has starters ready.

This is why I’m slightly less concerned by the CB issue. Clearly they aren’t selling Quansah and then waiting a month to figure out what they’re going to do.

But the Isak thing is very messy at the moment and I feel we’ve far less control. There must be a confidence on our end that it will happen but I wonder how long we’re willing to wait if they dig their heels in because if it’s not Isak then it has to be someone else.

Also very inconvenient that the two players we’re most strongly linked to at the moment are Guehi and Isak and we play Palace and Newcastle before the window closes. It’ll start to feel very squeaky if we’re having to wait until after the Newcastle game on August 25th to wrap up the Isak deal.

Well Palace will be done tomorrow….

I would expect that this deal gets done right at the end of the window so that Newcastle can inconvenience us and the player to the maximum.

I agree that’s what they might do but they will be shooting themselves in the foot as we don’t care whether we get him now or in January .

Errrr…

I think we do actually.

I also think it will be done at the end of the window, due to the spoiling streak that Newcastle have in them. They will try to inconvenience us (well said above) and also stick the knife into Isak, by putting all the blame on him for everything. They will also need until late in the window as they are having a difficult time being professional and closing deals.

Isak will come in, feel some love - which will be a real filip for him after this ordeal - but I don’t think we will see anything much on the pitch until after the international break.

Well the window closes after the final games before the international break.

Ah my mistake, I thought it was a bit earlier than that. We definitely won’t see much of Isak in a red shirt until after the international break then :joy:

Rumours that Milan are after De Winter at CB, which would rule them out of that Leoni kid if they get him

winter is coming

I think it was Inter, rather than Milan, who were looking into signing that kid. Apparently, Chivu knows Leoni well because he had previously worked with him.

Yeah, that’s the worry.

Seems like we’re really trying to wind Newcastle up.

Newcastle have made a bid for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa but Liverpool are monitoring the situation as they see the DR Congo forward, 28, as an alternative if they fail to sign Isak. (Caught Offside)

As stated above …
Kostas Tsimikas is edging nearer to leaving Liverpool after being left out of their Community Shield squad, with Nottingham Forest having been interested in the 29-year-old Greece left-back. (Echo)

Please let’s not fall in the Wissa trap, desperately.

:man_facepalming:t2:

I think we’re more likely ‘monitoring the situation’ in relation to the Isak move.
