For his style of play especially dives swan yelp trick , Manchester United are looking to move up up the table through penalties

Few people saying we are tying to get Sarr for Ā£25m with Ā£10m off add ons.

Yes to Sarr, so much potential for Klopp to work with. Hope that oneā€™s true as well.

In that case, would be interesting to see who do we manage to sell out of; Wilson, Shaqiri, Origi.

Brewster is also a possibility, but I hope itā€™s a loan for now and then assess it again next summer.

If we sign Sarr this window then in my opinion one of Salah or Mane will leave next summer. Of course it will all be sold as unexpected but watch and see.

Pretty much the only forward weā€™ve been consistently linked with isnā€™t he? If weā€™re in for him I can see Edwards getting Sarr for whatever he sells Wilson for. (Iā€™m just saying Iā€™d expect Edwards to get similar values, not that he has to sell Wilson in order to afford it).

I havenā€™t seen a lot of Sarr. Is he comparable to a Wilfried Zaha at a similar age?

Sarr is like a young Mane tbh. Iā€™ve seen him once, when he destroyed our backline multiple times

Letā€™s first sign Sarr if heā€™s signing and see if he can ever be close to those two.

:joy:

Why not just a bit of context please.

Similar in some ways. Similar build and athleticism, definitely not as skillful but better movement off the ball, better delivery from out wide and harder working than Zaha.

Klopp always gushes over these types when they play us - Zaha, Traore, Sarr, Pulisic and they always tend to cause us problems. Iā€™m sure heā€™d enjoy working with Sarr.

Nothing to do with being close to them. In my opinion he will struggle to ever get close they are proper worldies. But our transfers are apparently operated on a long term view and planned out for the next two years. 18 months after Sarr arrives him Salah and Mane would all be at an AFCON for a month or two. I donā€™t see careful operators like Klopp and Edwards allowing that to happen. So, in my opinion only, his arrival would be first sign one of those two is leaving next summer already planned out.

Come now, you wouldnā€™t be overstating it, would you?

I donā€™t think I am. I know everyone thinks itā€™s just a big joke but I really donā€™t think Klopp and Edwards will, willingly and without need, steer themselves into a situation where every senior player for 2 positions is missing for up to 6 weeks during a busy period.

I expect a lot of old links to resurface in the next couple of weeks like Harvey Barnes, Mandi, etc.

ā€œmonth or twoā€

Now weā€™re at ā€œup to 6 weeksā€

The last AFCON played in the winter was spread over 3 weeks. Salah was involved all the way through to the final. He missed 4 league games.

It may well turn out that Salah and/or ManƩ are sold between now and January-February 2022 but that is likely to happen anyway, irrespective of the AFCON.

The number of teams involved has increased since then.

Edit; plus it was the Italian league which has always been less cluttered with fixtures than England at that time of year.

You underestimate me. I checked the PL fixtures over the same period and heā€™d have only missed 4 games for Liverpool as well.

The number of teams participating has gone from 16 to 24. At a guess that might extend the tournament to 4 weeks rather than 3.

Not 6 weeks and certainly not two months.

With no other incoming?
If so, Iā€™d be disappointed with that.

But if it is Sarr now, as an extra wide forward, and then when Salah or Mane leaves we replace them with another top signing, fine. (Iā€™m not advocating selling Mo or Sadio, but at some point I accept it will happen, but the longer we hang on to world class, the better).

If Sancho is still available I could possibly see us going in for him, if Mo or Mane leaves down the line.
